Hello! My mother went to CT scan of her abdomen and her doctor found strange swelling of the adrenal gland. He told her it was a tumor and since it was very small he recommended no action at all. He told my mother to come again in six months. The word tumor frightens me and I was thinking it would be maybe better to remove it.
Hello! You are right about the word tumor. It has negative context and most people connect it with cancer which is wrong. Very small tumors which are not producing any symptoms are usually found by chance on CT scan. They are usually followed with a repeat CT scan in six months and carefully evaluated. Tumors that are larger then four centimeters should be removed due to the risk of an underlying cancer.
I was just told that I have a tumor on my adrenal gland that needs to be removed. Does anyone know about adrenal tumors and how dangerous they are?
