Yesterday I fell off of a horse -- landed on my tailbone and slammed backwards hitting my head on the ground. I had a helmet on but my head still snapped against the ground. Following the injury my butt hurt pretty bad and my neck hurt when I turned my head to the right. I took ibprofun and just figued I bruised my tailbone and would be sore a little bit.

Over the next few hours I felt nauseaus but never threw up, and a little dizzy. But the first nights sleep, I experienced extreme vertigo...anytime I tried to reposition myself I got very dizzy. My neck is now sore on both sides and Ive little mobility of my head/neck...with an extreme headache.

is this a normal reaction to hitting your head on the ground?

I cant make it to the doctor until tomorrow at the earliest...
hi, sounds like a classic case of concussion, the only way to know for sure would be to see the dr but rest and meds are the best way forward until then. if any of your symptoms worsen or you become at all concerned then i suggest you go to the emergency room as soon as possible. as for the pain in your neck, i would suggest this is whiplash, the ibuprofen is ideal combined with rest, as long as you have no tingling, numbness or concern then i believe you will be fine until you can get to your dr. next time i would suggest getting checked out straight away, and if you are ever knocked out you need to be assessed by a professional before you are moved, otherwise you run the risk of a serious c-spine injury. hope this helps.

Would hitting my head on the corner of a wooden dresser and creating a deep wound needing staples cause me to be very emotional? My head injury is near cerebellum.
