I am 15 years old and female.  I experience episodes that cause my heart rate to speed up, my body to feel fatigued, and sometimes make me dizzy.  In addition to the sped-up heart rate, the beat is pounding and the best way I can describe the sensation is that it feels like my heart has turned into cool liquid metal... a weird description I know, but I don't know how else to describe it.

These episodes are usually onset by drinking water but can occur at random.

I experience no panic or fear or anything of the sort when I have such an episode.  At worst I have to lie down until the sensation disappears.

The episodes usually last 5-10 minutes but I've have ones as long as 20 before.  They vary in intensity and frequency.  In the past, I have had periods where I get episodes several times a week (2-5/week for roughly a month or so) and then stretches where I have none (these stretches can last for months).

I have been to a pediatric cardiologist, who gave me a portable ECG to monitor my heart whenever I had an episode.  I had 2 ECGs at the cardiologist's as well (though during these I was not experiencing an episode).  As of yet the only symptom showing up on the ECG is the sped up heart rate itself; no irregularities besides that.

I am aware that this condition is almost certainly benign but I was wondering if any of you lovely people had some suggestions for me.  Thank you in advance!

Indeed weird glad your seeing a Dr on this esp at a young age I am 38 and I got diagnose of having irregular heart beat or skip beat meaning my heart slows down to a certain point then races back up to speed I had a 24 hr halter monitor and a 3 day monitor and both read the same thing also did all the eco scans and  ecgs all normal.I noticed eating different foods help me feel better during my attacks.  Try eating some healthy salads for lunch and dinner it's a hard diet to switch over to but eating more veggies and fruits fresh from the market will help a lot stay away from drinks like Monster and Rock star also stay away from soda caffeine for these are some causes of fast heart rates. I also drink a lot of home made juice so if your parents can get a juicer machine you can juice some awesome drinks together that will be healthy and good for the whole family. Family support helps to. Do some breathing exercises nice deep steady breaths  I do  10 breaths in and 10 breaths out before bed  and when I wake up. I also walk in the morning nice steady pace not fast just normal walk around the block. Keep seeing your doctor  and keep following his advise is the best cure. You can suggest these tips to him and ask him if it will help before starting. It's helped for me to eat the more healthy greens and fruits. and staying away from caffeine  Good luck and hope it helps
