I've traced mine back to sulfates. when i have lemon in ice tea that day and several days later my heart will do the same. did the heart stress test and wore a monitor for 24 hours too. it skipped while wearing it. but doesn't show up to them. Check out how sulfates can effect your heart. Someone told me that wine does that to them and then found out lemon is high in sulfates. search other items that have sulfates.

I have had these pals with cough for years. Very annoying,. I can go for weeks with nothing, then every day for weeks. Had my BP med changed numerous times now, and I am just getting tired of trying new ones all the time. So, just living with it. Been told it's normal. Grrrrrr

I have been having episodes of palpitations and coughing, for over a year now.it can last for hours at a time sometimes all day.the coughing is so bad it wears me out...I am a59yr. Old female non-smoker for 9 months now.i thought it was the smoking that brought on these episodes.. I am having one as I write this ..it started over two hrs. Ago,am coughing so much my throat feels raw...have mentioned it to my dr. But he didn't seem concerned..he said everyone has them .but I feel mine are so bad that they are disrupting my whole life .for example I get them at work and they can last all day.or if I go out for dinner they start up and I sometimes have to leave.it is embarrassing and quite annoying and frustrating...I am just wondering if there is any thing on the market that can help relieve or help for people with this problem ? I have tried cough mess and cough drops even tried rubbing my chest and throat with bicks vapor rub,but it didn't help..

Ca ca ca craaaazyy how soooo many people are having these same attacks. I felt like the ONLY one, I'm 27, take care of myself, pretty healthy. I never really had any heart problems. (Non smoker) Since I was a kid I would get sharp chest pains breathing in and would have to wait it out or drink water for it to go away. My mother would get the same thing as well, for example horsing around in the house or laughing too much then the sudden chest pain causing her to hold her chest like myself. This now seems like a worse problem, not so much of the sharp pain but the fast beats randomly and urge to clear throat and heart feels like it's climbing the ladder in my neck when laying down on my back sometimes. Also, sometimes I will move positions, can't lay on my left side cuz it feels like I'm pressing on my heart and I will feel sharp pains but my right side I'm fine. I did a bunch of tests, SEVERAL EKG, heart monitor for 48 hours(fun with showering ;) ) .Blood work 3 times (fun as well) :) stress test, had me running like Rocky but I passed that just fine, didn't bother me. All of these tests for weeks and the Dr. received the results  and said I'm young and and fine, no heart attacks or blood clots. She said the monitor showed a few skips around 6 am but I was definitely making Love to my wife at like 2am with the heart monitor on, which I thought was pretty neat, felt like iron man with it on my chest. She asked what I was doing, I said I was definitely sleeping at 6 am. Thanks for reading Lol, Let's all put our heart beats together and pound this thing out guys!!! Seriously, God Bless everyone!!!

Hi I'm having exactly the same symptoms, I'm glad I found this chat because at least I know I'm not the only one :/ I'm getting checked by cardiology I'm wearing a halter monitor now, I would like to know if you were able to resolve anything or find out what is causing this? Sorry I know this was posted over a year ago but I couldn't find any recent posts on this issue. Thank you :)

I hope you followed up on this. I was told at the age of 20 that I had a murmur. I was pregnant at the time so I had extra blood volume and more audible. It was never heard again. At age 35, I was having palpitations and feeling like I had a "bowl of jello" in my chest. My heart just felt wrong. The EKG was normal, the echo showed a "problem". Had an esophageal echo that showed the hole in my heart. It was the size of a nickel. Right between the left and right atrium. They told me that this problem is found on young people who have had a massive heart attack or stroke. I had open heart to repair that hole.

I'm relieved to hear others have the same condition as I do. Makes me less freaked when the irregular heart beats start coming. Every time I start thinking it will never stop.

Exactly the same for me. I was diagnosed with a pregnancy onset heart murmur 17 years ago. Lately my hearts been palpitating for like a week non stop. I should go to the doctor.
Did you have a heart attack or stroke? Why the hole in heart?

Very similar symptoms. Mine started in my teens. Come and go sometimes nothing for months. Im now in my 60s. I still have issues only now the palpitations seem to last for a couple months then go away. Sometimes light flutter feeling to feeling as though heart skips, drops,a beat and comes back with one or two harder beats.Sometime when they are harder i do expierence a cough and difficult to talk, like not enough breath. I have been holotered couple different times of course it didnt do it then. Once real light ones dr. Said nothing to worry about. But i want the big ones recorded lol. Sometimes when close together and all day i expierence a lil headache at base of head, might be stress from worrying about it. There seems to be no pattern.this is the longest period ive haf them this time almost 3 months. Yes there have been lots of stress factors this time around. I too offered medication but was told side affects bad.

Thank-you for posting your personal experience of this phenomena. I also have these similar symptoms. I had never connected the sense of the cough following a skipped beat, but that is how I would describe it also.

For me, the coughing seems to be improved by lying down and, when I am asleep, usually do not cough.

Over the last several weeks the palpable Arrhythmia and cough have been there every day. I am presently looking for a cardiopulmonary specialist to find out what I need to do to treat this. I also am a RN.

Do you mind letting me know what the outcome of your experience was. I notice your posting is from more than a year ago. Hope this reaches you. Thank-you again.

I have the exact same thing, a few years ago I was put on a halter monitor and found out I have SVT or super ventricular tackicardia. My heart was heating at about 180 beats a minute constantly. I take medication for it but the fluttering and coughing seems to be getting worse. I guess it's time to make a doctors appointment.
