I have had this problem also. Not sure how long but its been a while now.
During the day while working, not noticeable. Mainly when in bed at night. Its in my left ear so I turn my head to the right as I lay on my pillow and the sound goes away. I haven't went to the doctor yet but getting ready to. From what I read there is little help curing this Pulsatile Tinnitus. We have to pray!

I have had a swishing, pulsating noise in my left ear for over 15 years and had every test imaginable at that time, it was always there but I just lived with it......I had a test to see if my carotid artery was blocked in my neck, hearing test, some kind of tool they went up into my sinus cavity. the last 3 or 4 months this condition has gotten worse and to the point that I can barely stand it, if I put pressure on my neck it helps but then my heart skips beat and I get anxiety from it and my heart races..i have told my primary dr of this problem but he kind of just blew me off and said I have known people to have this and never found out what it is...…..if you have had it for 15 years, it must not be serious, so just learn to live with it I guess is what he meant...…..I was told to see an ent but from what I been reading, they don't find nothing usually either.....I can't afford a bunch of tests that are costly.....it definitely affects my life and it mostly starts beating harder when at rest...…...sometimes if I get up and do some exercises, or just walk around it seems to help but who can do that 24 hours a day....I will say that a friend of mine gave me a few Xanax to try and it did slow the beating down but I told my dr. that and he said maybe you need to see a psycho-therapist......I don't feel I am crazy but who knows....there are no answers but nice to know other people are having this issue as well...….I wish someone would come up with a way to stop this thumping
