Im willing to really bet if your still having this problem that by now you wanna shoot your ear off and not just rip it off. I started having the same problem about 2 months ago and ive been back and forth with doctors also. I truely and really beleive myself that it has to do with anxiety and stress. The ears is a part of our head which connects to our brain which is suppose to be the one organ in our body that cushions stress and anxiety plus much more. I was at the movies the other day with my girlfriend i wanted to shoot my ear off and rip it off but thats only usually when its not too too bad. I hope i find something soon because its insane already and to also see everyone here is dealing with it to. Im taking nasonex right now but its not working all that well. Im going to give it some time and start reducing my stressful situations and probably try and make sure i prevent any anxiety situations and see how that works. Probably a mix between the common cold or flu weekning everything in your body mixed with nasty chemicals in the air you might breath or take in plus showering and your ears always constantly draining fluid plus the stress...your bound to drop some nasty chemicals out of your blood stream that probably lay around that area that noone will pick up with the best equipment..it would have tobe surgically removed or you need to recover 100% to allow your blood stream to remove it itself which will take a couple weeks that you have to keep your mind stress and anxious free and not do things like clean or breathe in any nasty chemicals that could also just go in threw the outside ear drum...hope any of this helps

better yet have u guys checked with your dentist? a few weeks ago after visit my dentist because i had a dislodged crown, which was replaced by a dental nurse. however, i noticed that i would have this experience of a heart-beat in my left ear (yup same side), later on the right ear would start too. really now i had no way of making any connection to this detist visit. next i start to hear a clicking sound when i would eat - teeth clicking esp. the one below the crowned tooth. then the entire mouth felt and became uneven my bite seems off. and of course the heart-beat in the ears continued. then i noticed i started to clench my teeth, until my jaw lines felt sore, i would wake up with my teeth clench-tight and ears pulsating, during the day it was the same thing. just this week i call the dentist office to report my experience, i got an appt. immediately he found the problem - the dislodged crown was replace much too high in the area and it also needed to be shaved. i felt better in less than an hour. my bite was even i could eat comfortable on both side of mouth. the heart-beating ear sounds disappeared ... unbelievable!! i can smile again

I have this pulsing, whoosing sound when I wake up in the night and roll over. It eventually quits but is so annoying!! My carotid arteries are clear, blood pressure is good, no dental work needed, but I'd love to find a way to end this. I take B12 pills, but what is a good oral dose? If that would help, maybe I need to increase the mgs?

Sorry to see this many people on here dealing with this never ending problem like me:( I'm now going on 8yrs with it . I went to a Neurologist at the Mayo Clinic here in Jacksonville fl and they ran a CT Scan and MRI and found a blood vessel that runs behind my right eardrum that has shaped itself into a hourglass shape . The blood that flows through it is getting jammed in the narrow part trying to get through . The doctors suggested doing brain surgery to insert a stent to open up the blood vessel more so the blood can flow freely so it won't get jammed but because of my age at the time he said it was to risky . I was 28 yrs old at the time the problem started . The surgeon said if I was older like maybe 65 or 80 then he would suggest doing it but he didn't recomend someone younger getting it done because of the risk . He also said if it gets to the point where I can no longer tolerate the noise then by all means he will do the surgery . My question is this " how did it get narrow like that in the first place ?" i also failed the hearing test in my right ear and a stent is the only option according to the Neurologist . I'm going to get a second opinion and do another CT and MRI because something has to give . This pulsating sound has ruined my energy levels and sleep patterns to the point where I'm just so over it already . Good luck everyone I hope you find your peace soon .

Hi...I have been having the similar pulsing/throbbing in my right ear but now it has gone to my right eye and around my mouth(on the right side). ThSS has gotten worse to the point it is hard to drive, relax or even read things Online. I see the B-12 but I take that already and my doctor did not see any sings of an infection and thought it was my glasses. They are new but this was going on before I bought my new glassesA can anyone give me and suggestions. I see my doctor on Monday to see what she finds.

thank you!

I'm not sure if I'm suffering the same thing as the rest of you but the description seems to be the closest.

A few weeks ago I started to get this throbbing, hot feeling in my right ear. When I touch it I can't feel the throbbing so I guess its more an internal thing. It seems worse at night but doesn't bother me while I sleep. It doesn't seem to happen during the day either. Just randoms nights, not every day.

The only thing I thought to put it down to was having my wisdom teeth removed - even though that was two years ago I still have some residual issues. Jaw popping when eating bread, tingling across my jaw and pain where the teeth were. The thing with my right ear is close to the point where I get most of the other "symptoms" from where the tooth was removed.

No-one in my family has anything like this. No tinnitus either.

I really can't get to the doctor or afford to waste the approx 6 hours waiting for one. Has anyone tried anything herbal to fix this? Teas, Chinese medicine or obscure vitamins/plants?

Hi Marni,

I have suffered with this throbbing for ± the past 7 Years. I have tried anything and everything. Thus far two things did help: Celestone and the other one is Flonaze (not Flomist). My last "attack" was in December and in February I bought the wrong one - Flomist - and three weeks later my ear started again. I changed back to Flonaze and my ear stopped after the third day!!!

Please try this and I really hope it will help other people as well, as the scans and doctors visits didn't help me at all.

Kind regards,
Beaula.

I have heard the noise, like a bruit you hear with a stethoscope over an enlarged blood vessel such as a dialysis fistula, (I utilize this technique in my job), all my life but it is more common now, and occurs mostly in my left ear when I lay down. I also have a reaction in the muscles in my ears to loud noises, I think it is some kind of reflex. I am not too concerned about the rushing noise in my ears since I have had it most of my life, but will mention it to the doctor since it is happening more often and does tend to keep me awake. Nice to read others posts and know I'm not crazy!

Yes Exactly..to the tee.....Finally I was given Veramyst...(fluticasone furoate nasal spray...27.5 mcg per spray...After 4 days ...gone...Has not returned......Finally I can sleep at night ...I don't have to put pressure around my ear..It would only stop it for a few minutes anyway....I could not stand the sound of my heart pulsing in my left ear only..At night laying down trying to find a pressure point to stop it for a while.....I hope this helps you guys....I to thought I was going crazy

Try this: I laid on my right side with pressure against my right ear. I also focused on just relaxing, calming down. The beating I was hearing tapered off quickly...like 10 minutes, and stopped. I have a h/o anxiety and migraines, both of which have been getting worse for months now. I had a neck injury over ten years ago which gave me daily nerve issues and discomfort and inflammation for 5 months this past summer/fall. I'm thinking the problem with the beating in my right ear has to do with cervical neck stress. Hope this helps.

Folks, I do not know if this will help you at all.. but I woke up today with this sensation. I am very aware of 'my body' and wanted to find out what the heck was happening.

Let it be known that I have viral meningitis right now, along with another member in the family- confirmed with a spinal tap. The essence of this virus is swelling/inflammation of brain and spine.

I am not saying each of you have inflammation or this virus, but it could very well be related.

On another note my left (same side as the pulsing ear drum) eye is twitching today too--which only happens when I have inflammation- usually in my sinuses. I combat this with ibuprofen and usually subsides....and will do the same today. I am thinking that the rapid beat in my ear will disappear with the dost (600mg) of ibuprofen

Once the virus is gone, I will report back to you and indicate if all is well.
