I have been on it for almost 2 years and it does take a few months for some people to adjust to it, I had one friend who this happened to. Just stick with it and everything will be ok, it is an amzing product and I love it, im sure you will too.

I just started the ring and am on the second one. Once again, I started bleeding after only having it in for about 2 and a half weeks. Do you all think it is not working or does it take a while for your body to get adjusted to it? It is pretty frustrating right now getting a period every 3 weeks!!

My doctor put me on nuvaring because I have some ovarian cysts. She told me to change the ring once a week for three weeks (three nuvarings) and then leave it out a week. Every site I go on says one nuvaring three weeks in one week out. I have been the exact same weight for nine months and after 2 and 1/2 weeks on the ring I am up three pounds. It's not much but after loosing over 70 pregnancy pounds I don't want to start a slow climb. Did she tell me the wrong way to use this thing? Is it causing the weight gain I work out and watch my calories so I don't know what is going on?

Ive been on nuvaring for 2 months (I got it from school) And I needed a prescription so I talked to my doctor yesterday and she told me to leave the ring in for 4 weeks and then take it out for a week. Im curious to see if I'll have spotting during the fourth week.. Im not even sure I want to try. I finally have a regular period. I'd like to keep it.

i'm 16 and ive been on the NuvaRing since March 8, 2011 & i had a miscarriage in april. i had unprotected sex once and ended up pregnant. on june 23, 2011 i started to spot dark red blood and its still going on and i'm not sure if it's another miscarriage or if it's just because i won't have a period, i chose to skip my period becuase i play a lot of sports and it gets in the way. i started the nuvaring over in may , and i just really need help on this. i'm scared to talk to my family doctor and my mom. i didnt talk to anybody the last miscarriage, only with my boyfriend, i tell him everything, we had unprotected sex again 22 days after the ring had been in, and i'm usually good at changing the ring when need be. please help..

after 4 weeks the hormones in the ring don;t protect against pregnancy.

To my knowledge from the information with in the instruction paper work in the Nuvaring box, It says that the hormone released will last for 4 weeks and you can still go through your week w/o if you choose to or insert a new ring and start a new dose cycle.

I did the same thing just this week, now i am freaking out if i am pregnant or not. I have been looking all over the web to see if anyone else has done this too. I have found some with the same question as i do, but they never say if they found out if they were pregnant or not. So, did you end up getting pregnant?

I know this was a year ago, but for everyone reading the comments.. if, within your 3 or 4 weeks in, the ring is out for more than 3 hours, it is no longer effective. You need to throw it out and start a new ring, waiting 7 days before having sex without a condom to be protected.

3 days is too long and i think you had a new period because you put in a bunch of hormones and now have none. Next time start a new ring

No, you are NOT protected in the 4th week. Nuvaring has run out of the hormones by the 3rd week. It does not have enough to keep you covered, so you have withdrawal bleeding (aka, a false "period")
