My son is on soboxone for methodone withdrawal and is trying to get
off the soboxone. How can I help with the withdrawal problems of
nausea , weakness and headaches?
Why is he getting off soboxone? About six months ago I got off and it wasn't to difficult but now NOT LONG AFTER BEING OFF i SAW MYSELF BACK IN TERRIBLE ADDICTION AND WAS TAKING MORE PAIN KILLERS THEN EVER SO realy unless there is a medical reason to get off then stay on it. It is not like staying on opiod, not only do you not get high but it helps with depression and it keeps you from being able to get back to active addiction. Most doctors recommend staying on the medication.

I have been taking Soboxone for about six months now, and I must say this medication SAVED my life, I was taking 40+ opiate's a day and using crack cocaine!! I am surprised that I didn't OD. My step mom helped me get on soboxone, and it was the best decision I ever made in my life. I have fianlly regained control over my life.
I would recommend that anyone who is out there in active addicition give this medicine a try. It can be expensive but so is addiction. There is a web site called naabt.org and you can be matched with a doctor to meet your needs, wether it be (medicaid, premium insurence or a sliding fee scale)To:janitor1: Is your son trying to get off Soboxone because he feels he does not need it anymore? Please tell him from experience, that I along with several others also thought we were cured and soon returned to active addiction,(not saying everyone will)but I just think he should consider staying on it. Good luck to you and your son.

this is a verry difficult subject but if you are serious and he is to you need to go back to his or your gp ask him for a specialist help if you already have go back to them dont listen to ppl telling stay on them far to often these medications are abused to the extent even doctors opt for the easy way out and thats keeping the addict addicted its to much for one doctor to fix everyones problems. ive heard all answers and if someone stops taking them and goes back to there old ways they were never cured in the first place also get him into programs where he can see reformed addicts that have had sucess as for the nausa and weekness it will pass reality is its just a replacement thats why nearly everyone here wants to stay on it. you need to be using it properly for it to be affective and no doctor will tell u thats for the rest of your life

If he is not under the care of a physician, I suggest you find one. Your son could go into heavy withdrawals leading to seizures and even death.
