i had heomorroid banding 4 days ago but im in so much pain i have pain killers but not helping the day i come home was one band on my padding found next one down the toilet next day the 3rd one so how do i no if its worked as my heomorroids are stilll coming out i have to push them back up i feel so bruised can someone let me no if they had same or simular problems as i dont want the full operation if only banding hurts this much
It doesn't sound like it has worked! It usually takes 8 days to shrivel up and drop off along with the band.
You need to contact your dr and let him know what happened. Look, if this doesn't work and the hemmarroids are coming out, you need to get the surgery done. Yes its painful for about two weeks, but can be controlled with the right mix of painkillers(over the counter) not narcotics.
Its an unpleasant post surgery recovery, its not an area you can bandage up and be careful with, you have to use it, so its not pleasant to have to use it. I had some of the worst hemmarroids the surgeon had seen, her words not mine, but i got through it. It's manageable though, so do it sooner rather than later, life without a "pain in the ass" every day is much easier.
I had laser treatments, banding, ointments, about 9 months of different treatments before my surgeon said, we have done everything, we can only do surgery at this point, its up to you. At that point i was ready to say come on lets get rid of these things once and for all, i'd had enough of sitting sideways every time i had a bm, and putting up with pain all day.
Good luck!

I no what your saying but can't cope with pain now after banding full opp will be 100 times worse I never had pain like it spoke to hospital there gonna look over my paper work then phone me back don't no why there so sore if it didn't work stool softnersa not doing nothing taking 6 spoonfuls during day and 2 tablets at night onlt had the procedure done 4 days ago and feel so bruised there
Where have you had this procedure done, UK, US where?? and was it a colorectal dr that did it for you or general surgeon?
Believe me your pain meds are not good ones for you to still be in pain like this after 4 days, throbbing yes, agonizing pain somewhat but not all the time. HAVE you had a BM yet?. Do yourself a favor, get good pain meds, the throbbing can be controlled by heat, hot water bottle under your butt, or heating pad or sit in the bath.
I spent hours sometimes most of my day i would sit in the bath , keeping it as hot as i could stand it. You have to do it to promote the healing.
Tylenol Extra Strength and ibuprofen . Tylenol Extra strength every 4 hrs and ibuprofen every 6 hours. Check with Dr first and see if they say try it. I sorted my own out, because the percocet were making be zombielike, and will constipate you too.
Believe me the pain is going to be the same when you have the surgery, but then its over after two-three weeks and you have your life back.

I'm in the uk and thank you for your reply just having no one to talk to can be upsetting dr ect rush you away when u want to chat and don't explain anything did you have banding then the full operation
Some Drs are assholes, pardon the pun. I was warned in advance that it would be painful, believe me the pain is real, and throbbing for hrs is annoying as hell. Went through lasers first, two minute treatment, zaps them, and back to work done in office. Had the banding of two big ones like a walnut size, did not work, no pain after it though. I think mine were above the 4 inch threshhold. what that means is they were more than 4 ins up inside (Less sensitive area) the last 4 inches of your anus/rectum has a lot of nerves, so i am tempted to think they have banded those ones, and that would be agonising am sure. They did not band my lower ones, we had to do surgery for those ones, because they were swollen and coming out all the time (Sorry to be graphic) t did not work for me, Still had pain and hemms all day swollen after bm. every day for about two years in all i put up with it, because i did not want to be embarassed showing my butt to dr. Well i bit the bullet, found a great colorectal surgeon and went to see her. She is fantastic, and i was fine after two weeks, still swollen but able to function, walk and go back to work.
If you have the surgery have everything ready at home in advance so you are not looking for stuff because you will not want to go out because walking you look uncomfortable for the first week. You have to make a list of questions and bombard them with the questions regardless of whether they want to leave, if you are informed and know what you want to ask they have to answer.
Hey spurs4ever how are things today, is the pain still bad or is it getting better. When are you supposed to go back to the Dr at the hospital for a check up, or do you have to go to your own dr?
Pain is a bit better today not heard back from the hospital nurse yet phoned dr this morning they uped my pain killers still not going toilet properly due to bein sore but now having bran flakes every mornings and 3 spoons lactalouse twice a day hospital again I think in 6 to 8 weeks
Good, eat them before you go to bed too. Lots of fiber to make everything softer. Are you taking Metamucil, (Fibergel) something like that at night will bulk up stool and make it softer and easy to pass.
Hope things get better. What did the Dr say about the bands coming off?? What are they going to do about it, or is it slow and if your are lucky they'll take you in and do it again in 6 months?
Oh god its so frustrating, to go through that, and now they have come off.

I think there gonna want to do the full operation as my heomorroids are big and come out not happy banding didn't work but he wasn't sure it would I don't want the full opp as u don't wanna go through this pain again and even the dr told me before the banding that the full opp is very painful what else I take at night is 2 senna tablets will try another bowl bran flakes reason they wanna get problem sorted I bleed quite a lot last year and neaded blood transfusion my blood dropped to 4.6 after transfusion after a few months went back to 13 but dropped again to 9 then put me on iron tablets again and just before banding got me back to 12 bleeding not bad at moment but was more 1st day I got dishcharged
I have had op, and you hear horror stories, but once its done your life is so much better after the op. You have to find a good, experienced surgeon. Yes its painful, but with the right meds you can manage the pain. Its the uncomfortable throbbing that's annoying and thats why you sit in the sitz bath afterwards, its the only way to ease the pain after bm. Hot water bottle under you in car, chair wherever you go. The real problem I experienced, and i was not prepared for, was the anxiety when you need to go. I was practically hysterical not wanting to go, terrified of the pain and tearing stitches etc. Lets be honest here, the DR is not going to tell you the absolute truth, because unless he has had it done himself/herself, they know its painful, but they really dk. If you can get a prescription for anti-anxiety meds (valium) and buy ibuprofen, and tylenol extra strength you will be ok after a few days. The narcotics if you are on them are bunging you up, and even with all the stool softeners and fiber its still hard to go if you are taking them. I got off them after 2 days, and sorted myself out with the pain meds over the counter style. I noted a few weeks back a DR had this done, and he did the exact same thing with ibuprofen and tylenol (Paracetamol) over there. I had everything ready, epsom salts, sitz bath, mineral oil, metamucil, pain meds, pads, the whole lot. I was missing one thing, that was the most important, valium to keep me calm.
The pain you are experiencing now is the same as if you had the op, and it does ease after a few days, total time for complete healing is 8 weeks. I was ok after two weeks, could go back to work, still pretty swollen there at three weeks. At 2 weeks i was off painkillers altogether.
Anyway, now you have to start all over again because the banding didn't work, so the only thing they will suggest is op now i expect.
Feel Better!
