As a man, statistically, how likely is it to contract the HIV virus from my sexual counterpart if the condom breaks? I am a gay man who has always practiced safe sex. I guess I'm what would be termed "all top". I don't give oral sex and I don't receive anal sex. A few months ago I was engaged in anal sex with a guy that I did not know particularly well. And at some point during the act, the condom broke. I didn't notice anything until we were done. He assured me that he was healthy and fine. But the thought of it has been plaguing me. My friends who are leaps and bounds much more active than I am have always insisted that the transmission rate from "bottom" to "top" is considerably less. Is this true or just a convenient justification?
