Everyone. Ask your doc about scabies. It is common but frequently hard to diagnose. Not too difficult to treat.

I'm hoping that this is what I have. Just got cream for it and crossing my fingers these bites clear up in a few weeks after all the mites are killed off. Only takes 1-2 treatments with cream all over body. But it hung and marks take longer to resolve.

I am so glad that I've begun to research this. I too have searched for bed bugs, fleas, mosquitoes, dust mites...you name it!!! Much like yours, the bites appear in pairs most of the time. This has been ongoing for about 4 months and I am so frustrated. Have you learned why yours are happening? Please share.

I am beside myself.... Same thing. In pairs appearing suddenly. Itches. Leaves marks. Not bug bites. I guess I will see dermatologist pretty soon cuz I can't figure this out.

I am also having this exact problem. 2 bites about an inch apart that are extremely itchy and swollen and then shrink down after a few days, leaving small red/dark scars behind. Did anyone get an answer? I have also ruled out bedbugs and fleas.

I've been having this same thing for some days. I am suspecting that the cause could be a mouldy washing machine (I recently moved to a place where the washing machine was in desperate conditions). I have replaced it today, I will let you know if the situation improves!

I just got this too. I have five pairs of super itchy red bumps, each about 1 1/2" between centers. Three are on my left arm, one on shoulder, one on right hand.

They happened both times after I spent the night at a friend's, who has a cat.

I was thinking that they were bugs... then I had a systemic allergic reaction which is ongoing and UGLY as heck (google dishydrotic excema ...)

So it's a chicken-or-egg thing. Did I get the bumps as a result of the allergic reaction, or did I get bit, and have the sytemic reaction from that... The bumps happened first, and then the blisters, but maybe the bumps were just the first signs of the big reaction which was on the way.

Did I get bitten by fleas, and then have the big reaction, or am I allergic to cats which caused a systemic reaction, with bumps and then blisters?

Flea medicine for the cat, benadryl for me, and hopefully it will clear up ASAP. grrr.....

So, check to see if there's an allergic component instead of bugs.

I've been experiencing hives in pairs since high school, 8 or 9 years ago. I also went through the process of getting checked for scabies, bed bugs, blood work, etc. What I believe after all of that is that some people just experience hives this way. Aside from their strange appearance, they act like hives, itch like hives, and appear when I'm overheated, stressed out, or drinking alcohol. I also take a stimulant that makes me dehydrated and has caused me some skin issues, so my way to avoid them is to avoid being overheated at all costs, and to drink a ton of water. Unfortunately, the hives always break and leave marks, so I use hydrocortisone cream to stop myself from scratching them.

I hope this helps someone else. It's good to see that other people experience hives the same strange way that I do.

I'm so glad I found this message board! Since December I've been dealing with this same thing. Every few weeks, a pair of itchy bumps an inch apart! Today I found a pair on my inner wrist, as well as on my left forearm. Glad to know others experience this as well. My doctor said it's probably hives.

I had these as well.
Searched the bedroom for bedbugs, found nothing.
Knew bedbugs were sometimes hard to find and tough to get rid of, treated with spray just in case... Still experienced the itchy bumps, about every 2-3 nights.
A few weeks later, I felt a bite happening. Turned on the light and there were bedbugs crawling all over the headboard. HORROR SHOW. They had been hiding under the alarm clock.

I had heard advice that my itchy bumps couldn't be bedbugs because 1. I didn't see any bugs, or signs and 2. they usually leave 3 or 4 bites, not just two.

Well, sometimes the answer you REALLY DON'T WANT is the right one.

I sprayed bedbugs directly with Hot Shot bedbug/flea spray and one out of four kept on going. Also sprayed with Neem oil, kind of same thing, except much smellier. Euca-clean (eucalyptus based cleaner) seemed to work best-- and smells best! Try it.

Exterminator is coming tomorrow to treat the whole damn apartment.

Add me to this list. Have been having the same problem for years. Been to many doctors with no explanation. I think it's a neurological condition. Best explanation I've had yet

Hi I have been reading all the questions and I as well suffer from this problem. It started off just happening on my forearm area a few years back. A pair would show itch for a few days then go away. This year they started growing on my neck, finger, arms and legs. I've been to the doctor repeatedly, I've used every cream prescribe even steroid cream still no luck. I have had blood work done and everything was fine. My Doctor can't figure it out but I do notice it comes more when the weather change. Me and my wife share the same bed so it definitely isn't bed bugs or scabies. Sometimes the bumps go away as quick as they come but other times they swell up and last about a week. Somebody will soon find the answer and help us out.
