For a long time, I've had problems with the bottom of my left foot. My doctor visits all advise arch supports. Done. But how do I get the sore "ball-of-the-foot" to heal without laying in bed for three weeks? No one deals with the healing part for a very painful sore.

I'm not a doctor, but I can provide some general suggestions that may help with the healing process for a painful sore on the ball of your foot. Here are some general tips:

  1. Rest and Reduce Impact: Minimize activities that put excessive pressure on the affected area, especially those that involve prolonged standing or high-impact movements. Opt for low-impact exercises or activities that don't exacerbate the pain.

  2. Apply Ice: Ice can help reduce inflammation and provide temporary pain relief. Apply an ice pack wrapped in a thin cloth to the affected area for about 15-20 minutes at a time, several times a day. Be sure to give your skin breaks between icing sessions to avoid frostbite.

  3. Use Pain Relief Measures: Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), may help reduce pain and inflammation. Follow the recommended dosage instructions and consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns or medical conditions.

  4. Wear Proper Footwear: Ensure you have well-fitting shoes with adequate cushioning and support. Consider using inserts or orthotic devices, such as gel pads or metatarsal pads, to offload pressure from the affected area.

  5. Gentle Stretching and Massage: Perform gentle stretching exercises to maintain flexibility in your foot. Additionally, massaging the area with your hands or a massage ball can help promote blood circulation and relieve tension.

  6. Protect the Sore: If the sore is open or prone to friction, protect it with a sterile bandage or cushioning pad to prevent further irritation.

Please remember that these suggestions are general in nature, and individual results may vary.
