Hi, I have always had a terrible fear of flying. This is not generally a problem, as not setting foot on an airplane solves the fear.
I have been transferred to my company's office on Hawaii recently, and I will be leaving in two months. I am very much looking forward to my time in Hawaii but I am freaking out over the fact that I know there is no other feasible way to reach my destination than by airplane. Last time I flew, I had a major anxiety attack. How do I get over my fear of flying? Is there any reliable, proven way to lose the fear?

I once had a girlfriend who was scared of flying. It was cute. I heard that there are a number of hypnosis programs on the market that can cure fears. Fear of flying, fear of speaking in public, fear of spiders... you name it, these hypnosis programs are said to be able to solve it. Please look into something like that, if you are serious about losing your fear!
How about some valium or similar mood suppressing medication? After I got divorced, I got anxiety attacks for a while, and I was prescribed valium. Valium helped me enormously. After a while I could function normally on my own again, and I have never looked back. But if flying causes you so much anxiety, I believe that this may be of benefit to you as well.

EMDR is not appropriate for flight anxiety issues.
Medication, according to research, causes a dramatic increase in panic when flying.
Hypnosis is unreliable. It may work; it may not.
Difficulty with emotions when flying results is due to not having enough built-in ability to regulate emotions. On the ground, a person can try to control situations they are in, or escape from them if things go badly. Anxiety or panic arises in flight because flying offers neither control of the situation nor escape.
