I was born with fairly mild hypospadias: I have a hooded, free - moving, rather large foreskin. The phallic groove is lower than usual, and there is a blind dimple in it which looks like a normal pee-hole. In the frenum there are two pin-hole size openings, one of which functions as the pee-hole. The second hole is about 0.5 cm. back and to the left of the main one. It very occasionally functions as a back-up pee-hole if my bladder is unusually full. I have vague memories of sitting to pee before going to school, but probably since the age of 4 1/2, I have had no problems in peeing while standing: I think I must have been taught by someone to have a reasonably good aim.

By age 10, my penis was just on 5 ins. long and beginning to thicken: three months later I ejaculated for the first time. In showers etc. I often had comments, but these were on the size, not the shape of my penis. I think that my total lack of embarassment came from having been encouraged by our GP and my mother to be proud of my penis. For me, this meant that, although he was different from some others, that was no big deal. Actually, to this day, because of my plentiful foreskin, if I pee carefully an observer would probably not to notice my hypo. In late Primary School I could usually win "who can pee the highest" contests by turning the glans round so that the pee-hole was pointing up. Although this revealed the difference, it was a source of envy rather than mockery. By the age of 16, he had reached his present size, 6.5ins. long, 6 ins. circumference.

As an active adult I have never been rejected or disparaged in any way because of my hypo: it has proved, once a relationship was established, to be a talking point and source of interest and has often resulted in heightened activity.I am the father of three children and now, at 71, still have an active sex-life.

If your penis works, its a good one, and I'm grateful that no-one decided to have mine "fixed". I have been lucky, in having real support, which made things much easier, I am sure;but a hypo owner CAN certainly have a normal, enjoyable sex-life.
