I'm 13 and I always feel like I'm about to throw up, but I can't and sometimes I gag (voluntary and involuntary). I buy a sandwich at lunch so my parents don't think that there is anything wrong with me, but I end up only eating less than half and then throwing it away because that make me gag as well. I can keep drinks and stuff like that down without gagging, but not foods. It's really difficult to control because some times it just happens in the middle of class or a test and because I'm starting my gcse' (the end of secondary school qualification) early I really need to be able to concentrate in class. I'm quite tall and fairly skinny, but I eat a lot of junk food-I don't know if that's effecting this of if that's just because of my metabolism. I looked on the internet and it said that I might have anxiety, but I don't think I have that. Do you think it's from starting my gcse' early?

Hello,

there is no way around this - you need to see a doctor and determine what's causing this. It could be either stomach or gallbladder problem, but since as you described it it seems that you're nauseous whenever you eat - this also might be some kind of food intolerance. Not to sound too preachy, but there is a reason junk food is called just that - it has too much sodium, it's often too spicy, acidic, fatty and it has all kinds of additives that can injure your stomach lining.

What happens if you try eating fruit or vegetables? Does your stomach react the same? Since you're only 13 it's very important that you get all the nutrients - vitamins and minerals you need because you're developing. IS there any food you can eat without problems?
