I am pregnant, but I need Oral surgery. Is this possible, should I worry?

I really need the surgery,I have put it off for years. I am scheduled for surgery next month. Now I find out that I'm pregnant, but I would like to
have the surgery as plannned. What should I do,and should I worry?
What types of medications will they be giving you (both for pain during and after). Additionally, is there anyway to reschedule your appointment for later in your pregnancy or after the pregnancy? That is of course the safest thing for your baby. The teeth of pregnant women and their gums change dramatically during pregnancy so ask the dentist first and make them very aware that you are pregnant. Discuss everything with them, from how they will administer any pain medication to the medications afterwards and possible effects. If they don't know, or if they are uncertain or seem hesitant take that to mean they aren't comfortable doing this while you are pregnant and it isn't the best thing for your baby.
