Hey, you're not alone. I'm 23 and I've only ever had my period every three months. It's always been three days with very little cramping. In high school and before I always chalked it up to playing sports excessively, but after high school it remained the same even though I stopped playing sports. If you go to the OBGYN it can't hurt to ask them, but my OB knows and never mentioned that it could be a problem.
I'm happy to report that with my case at least I had no problems getting pregnant (got pregnant the first time around) So don't count on not getting preggers just because your period is every three months.

Hi all

I am 19 years old and I too regularly have my periods once every 3 months. I'm not over-weight, I do regular exercise and I am not a virgin. So, personally speaking I don't think it's anything to be worried about. I've spoken to my mum (who is a nurse) as well as a Dr. and both say that it's just normal for some people to have a slower cycle than others. As long as its regular, then its normal for you. I was told I only had to worry if my period became irregular, or was lasting longer than was usual, for me - what might be normal for me, might not be for you, so if you period is a certain number of days, regularly, then I think you should be ok. :-)

I wouldn't worry about it.
Mine are ridiculously irregular, last year I think I had 3, maybe 4?

I went to the doctors and he was like "they'll prolly sort themselves out with you're older, if not it might be just hormone imbalance"

Go doctors when you start wanting kids, but I wouldn't worry too much.

im 18, came on my periods at the age of about 13/14. but they never have been "normal". i also seem to come on my period every 3 months. I never used to be worries about it, but its really getting to me now. At first i thought it would be ok and it would go back to normal but it hasnt. been to my doctors and they dont know what it could be! i hate my figure, my hips have gone pretty big and ive been told its because i dont come on regularly. im also scared that it will cause problems later in life and when trying to conceive children. HELPP?? :-(

Talk to your doctor about Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It isnt life threatening, but it may explain what many of you are experiencing. It is associated with acne, overweight, increase hair growth (ie. on face of female). You may only see slight subtle variations of these symptoms.
But talk to a doctor, they will test your hormone levels in a blood test, and possibly do an ultrasound on your ovaries. Its very manageable, in fact you dont really need to do anything unless you are trying to concieve and even then they have hormone supplements for you.
