So I had my tonsils out on the 15th of December last year. Probably the worst pain I've ever been in. If they explained how painful it was I would of definitely NOT have gone forward for the procedure. The first few weeks I didn't eat much and it was hard, stressful and frustrating. Pain, hunger and frustration does not mix well. However I have read these comments and I am the same. I can't taste barely Anything and it's so depressing. I have a constant metallic taste and it's driving me insane. Chocolate is now gross, crisps is about the only thing that tastes the same and I find joy in eating. If you want my opinion I would keep your tonsils I regret it so much. If I knew it was going to be this bad I would of just stuck with constant tonsillitis! The surgeon must of done something to my nerve in my throats to make food so tasteless. They say this is uncommon but looking here seems pretty common to me!! They should warn us before surgery of the complications and the pain! Rant over. I hope I get my taste back and I hope you guys too! Good luck my tonsiless buddies!
