I have suffered from extreme anxiety attacks for years. I visited a clinic once to get an unbiased opinion on what these could result from and while the dr I spoke with was somewhat helpful and sympathetic... They basically brushed it off. I am like a hypochondriac in the sense that I'm constantly "googling" anxiety diagnosing myself. Lately I have been waking up having really bad anxiety about events that occurred like 5 years ago ... I dont understand why I dwell so much on these insignificant things in the morning ... It's literally like guilt about being a big partyer in college and now I'm a completely different person ... Hi there! Being a mother I think and having a small child like you have brings a lot of happiness but also worries and tiredness. There's a word in Dutch which is "piekeren" and it means to be continuously mulling about things, being worried, etc...One of the things you can do about it, and it works, is not trying to avoid these worry thoughts about the past or the present but accepting that they come and giving yourself an amount of time to them. let's say: you start worrying at 2am about a problem with a friend 2 years ago: give yourself 5 minutes to think about developing to the worst scenario you can imagine. After this 5 minutes force yourself to think about something else, (like a recipe of a cake) and insist on it until you are able not to continue mulling about the first subject. I'll tell you: it works! Mainly people dwell on these small things because is an unconscious way to keep your brain at a high level of stimulation. two other things help a lot: sport and meditation. You should try it. Take care!

Hello Guest
Sorry to hear about anxiety attacks - almost everyone at some point in time has had it - trust me I am a mom too.
I am not an expert here, but here are few suggestions -
1) If there is a support group in your area, join it and express your concerns and feelings. Sometimes talking over makes things tolerable. Hearing what others say is equally good.
2) Develop a hobby which can take your mind off daily issues and concerns.
3) If your anxiety relates to friends and well wishers, talk to them. i am sure they can ally any fears or misgivings.
Hope this helps
