This is all good advice. I recently did some research about the connection between eczema and dust mites when I was building my site about dust mites. From the research I did, i found that there isn't much research linking dust mites to allergies, but most people with eczema also have dust mite allergies.

hey dude i have it just as bad as you and the one thing i HIGHLY recomend is salt water. mine used to get to the point every where that i would bleed but iwent for a swim in the ocean(any salty body of water works) two days in a row and a combination of that and the lotions lubriderm and hydrocortizone has completely cleared it up. also from experience when i lived in Utah actually that had very low humidity and it actually disappeared completely i never had to take anything or use anything for it.
P.S. the salt water will burn like crazy but trust me it helps tremendously and you will be able to wear all your clothes again. also wear gloves to bed cause u can't scratch at night which is when its the worst. I'm 16 and been persrcibed everything and this is what works.
P.P.S. also shower and put the lotions on when u go to bed and wake up

Hi, having had eczema since I was a baby my whole body and I mean whole body, including face are covered! I can under stand how you all feel! :-( it's really not nice. So anyway I can manage my eczema from feeling almost crippled to wearing shorts and tee shirt eczema free, here's how it helps me. Now it's not easy but I found SUGAR makes my eczema really really bad. So by cutting out all cane sugar from my diet ( not just sweets etc ) but sugared yogurts, breads etc this helps clear my eczema completely. I also need to drink plenty of water, regular baths after bathing I scrub the dead skin of as we develop more skin than the average person. And using a very heavy moisturiser. Although we are all different I believe sugar is the main cause of eczema. Eliminating sugar from
My diet took a long time for my skin to improve and I'm talking about 3 months so it really is something you have to work hard at but I feel I hate and suffer from eczema so badly anything is worth sticking at! I really hope this helps you all as I certainly almost cured my intensive severe eczema :-)

We can all agree that Eczema is nasty! I started to get itchy around my wrists about 3 years ago, and it progressed intensely. I only have it on my hands. Most of my right hand(palm, base of pinky, ring and middle finger and the thumb area. On the left I have it on my middle finger and pinky. Weird how it is only in certain areas. But it progressed because I ITCH ALOT!!! I can't help it as you can't either. I used to think it was only me who have uncontrollable scratching habits. Just so you know, hydrocortizine cream thins the tissue, so use it sparingly. I have tried Aquaphor, but its greasy, and the best cream that works is Cetephil. But cream. I have to wear cotton gloves with vinyal gloves over them after lotioning up really well and that seems to keep moisture in. Even when I shower, I put hair rubberbands on my wrists to keep water out. I love to swim laps, but I am afraid the lack of oils people with eczema produce will only cause drying and cracking more often. I flare up mostly in stressful times I noticed, and that is when itching feels so damn good, but I pay for it later. I go through stages of good and then bad b/c of scratching. I take fish oil, flax seed oil, vitamin B-50, and nothing is changing for the better. I thought I was gluten intolerant, AKA cilliac disease and that hasn't shown positive results. It looks like we are sufferers of ECZEMA for the rest of our lives. I am a massage therapist and this is making it hard for me to give massages, not to mention what it must feel like to my clients!
GOOD LUCK WITH THE CHALLENGE! Thanks for all the helpful tips!! :$

I am also a lifetime sufferer of eczema. I'm 43, used to have it on elbows and knees as a kid, but now it is almost everywhere. The best thing that I have discovered to help so far is soaking in a bath with 1/2 cup of bleach added for at least 10 minutes. This especially helps when the patches are red. I don't put my head in the water. This one simple step has helped me reduce the amount of topical medications that I had been using in the past - skin steroids or similar such as mometazone on my body, protopic on my face, and cortizone on my eyelids.

Aveeno has a new eczema treatment cream. It works for me. It has lipids much like the ones that are found in your skin. It replaces whatever the defficiency is that causes the eczema to surface and helps to heal current skill occurances. Hope you get some relief. Kind regards.

Dear Jolene, hi! What's been working for me is daily wash the infected areas with pine tar soap with warm water. In the final rinsing use 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar to 1qt. of lukewarm water and PAT dry. Finally while not completely dry rub aloe- vera cream. Whatever your budget will support as long as it has aloe vera in it. I use the cream every 2 1/2 hours in combination and found surprising relief. God bless you.

Hi Jolene, don't give up the fight! what's been working for me is daily bathing the affected areas with pine tar soap and warm water. In the final rinse add 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar to 2 quarts of lukewarm water. PAT dry. Then rub in the aloe vera cream in the areas as much as feels right to you. For me rubbing the cream in every 2 1/2 hours has been granting me more relief and more sleep. God bless you.

Hi, I've had eczema all my life, as I hit my teens it's got gradually worse. The best thing I find is to use a very small amount of a strong steriod cream (such as betnavate) on the area then use a moisteriser. I do this instead of using a weak steriod as I have to use this for longer and I get thin skin. I moisterise alot and sometimes I use Savlon (an antiseptic moisteriser) which doesn't sting and prevents my eczema getting infected. I also take evening primrose oil and zinc suplements, the evening primrose oil keeps my skin moisterised and the zinc helps my skin to heal. Hoped this helps, you could also see if you have a food intolerence, some people develop ecezma because of a lactose intolerence?

My boy has pretty bad eczema so we brought him to the allergy specialist. He took the skin prick test and was found to be allergic to dust mites. The specialist advised to start him on immunotherapy once he turns 5. Immunotherapy desensitize the body towards the allergens and is probably a longer term solution. it is not cheap and it will take about 3 to 5 yrs old but it certainly beats all the suffering. Perhaps you can check with your doc on this. The specialist said that immunotherapy works for adults too :-)
