Hello,
My husband and I have been trying for 8 months to get pregnant. We haven't had any luck! I've tried laying down for 15-30 minutes after having sex also. I was wondering, if he pushed in as far as he could while ejecting if it would release the sperm closer to the cervix? Hence it would have a greater chance of making it to the egg and fertilizing it? Thanks!!
Hi Guest,
It won't make a significant difference.
First off, we don't consider fertility issues until a year of regular intercourse has passed.
The sperm will survive long enough to reach the egg.
Timing plays more of a role. You should have sex a few days before you ovulate. Sperm can survive up to about 5 days max - the egg is viable for about 2 days. Most women on a 28 day cycle would ovulate between days 11 and 16 of their cycle, day 1 is when your period starts. You can also get ovulation test kits.
Hope it helps, good luck.
