I am a 21 year old male:
I have been constantly worried about an irritation i am having that starts on the inside of my shaft (right above the beginning of my testicles) and ends around the opening of my penis, forming a red circle around the pee hole. Basically, the inside of my shaft has a red line going up it that continues around the opening of my penis. There are no blisters anywhere, however i have small white bumps located on the bottom of the inside part of my shaft. When i squeeze them only a thickish white discharge comes out of them; no bleeding. Around the opening of my penis, it is very red and irritated. It has only hurt to urinate these last few days. There are no bumps or blisters, it is just very red and has caused me slight discomfort. What is it?

I just saw your other post, this one is more detailed...
The opening of your penis, do you mean your urethra or your foreskin? Are you circumcised? How long have you noticed the rash? How long has it hurt to urinate? Are you sexually active? How large are these small white bumps?
I'm thinking maybe molluscum contagiosum as far as the bumps with the discharge.

i have been circumcised. i think it is the urethra, however am rather unfamiliar as to what the urethra really is. It is on the head of my penis and mainly red around the pee hole, however the entire head of my penis looks as if it is inflamed. I have noticed this for several years now and has only slightly hurt when i urinate these past few days. I have not been sexually active for the past year and a half. The bumps are very small and most of them do not reach the surface and seem to be under the skin (only one or two seem to be above the surface and they are so small that i cant even compare them to anything.

The urethra is the exit for urine and semen. The head or glans is just that.
The glans is inflamed? It may be balantitis. It is rather uncommon in circumcised men. It can be due to an allergies or std's. I can't recall if you said you were tested before. Try to keep things on one post so as to make it easier to follow.
Your doctor has you on two meds now. A mild steroid and the antifungal. This would be the standard treatment for balantitis.
Hope it helps.

I had a blood test and a urine test and am unaware as to what each of them tested. Everything came back negative, however i was never tested for herpes. By the way, do you know what all they probably tested me for with the urine and blood test?

From your description I don't think it is herpes. Herpes tends to cause blisters that break and leave a crater or ulcer.
They probably tested for STD's and UTI's. I can only guess. You should ask your doctor for copies of those tests.

First off i just want to thank you for your help. It has been very informative. I do recall one time, 2-3 years ago, that i did receive a pimple like bump at the inside base of my shaft. It pussed and bled after squeezing. It never hurt too bad and seemed to go away on its own. There was never a crater however.

You're welcome. Glad to be of help.
Pimples are normal, they do happen even on the penis, especially while you were in your teens.
A blood test can used for herpes so maybe they did. I do think, from your meds, that the doctor is thinking balantitis though.

I have been on the medication for a week now and have not seen any differences. I do remember, however, the doctor telling me they were not going to test for herpes because i did not have any visible legions or bumps, etc. I also remember that a week and a half ago when i was trying to squeeze out one of the small white bumps that it turned red and circular. Not a bump, no discharge, and did not hurt. It cleared up after a day or two. Is this just because i had been messing with it too much?
My main concern is that since the bump i recieved was so long ago, im afraid my description is not very acurate. I am, however, going to a urologist tomorrow. Is what my doctor said true about not being able to get an acuarate test for herpes unless you have something like a bump?

The medication, especially the steroid, can take some time to work so that may account for why you haven't noticed any difference yet.
You are not displaying any signs of herpes now. The pus filled bump/crater are obvious and they can swab the fluid to test. Still, there are markers in your blood if you carry the virus. It can lie dormant. Still, I do not think you have it from your description. It would not really account for what is going on now either.
You really shouldn't squeeze the bumps. It could leave a scar.
Good luck tomorrow. Let us know what happens.

I could not make an appt. with the urologist untill january. I have another symptom i have noticed though. My testicles are very red and have caused some discomfort. Any clues as to what this could mean?

If you mean your scrotum is red, it very well could be related. When you say discomfort, what sort? Is it more itchy.
It could be a fungal infection, related to possible balantitis.

It is slightly itchy with a slight burning sensation as well...also the medication my doctor gave me (Clotrimazole and Betamethasone) hasny helped any and i have been on it for more than 2 weeks...I am seeing a urologist on the 6th and am afraid i am not going to be able to give a detailed history of my condition....i do not want to leave anything out but cannot remember what it was like in years past...Should they know just be examining or is my description extremely important for them to figure out what i have? Also is there a way to get tested for all STDs?

If it is a fungal infection, it can take time to heal but I would have expected some improvement in 2 weeks.
If you can write down your history, all of it, it would help. The doctor can then decide what is/what is not important. Just make some notes for now and as you remember more, jot it down.
They should be able to tell a great deal from just observation. They may also take a culture if they are suspicious of anything.
Your urologist can help you with the STD tests. They'll either do the tests there or refer you elsewhere.
