My husband is 36 years old and he is a tennis player. After suffering from pain in shoulder and arm during sleep and sometimes even at rest, he went to a doctor and was diagnosed with shoulder impingement. Doctors put him on some anti-inflammatory medications and told him to rest and I would like to know how long can all of this last and when he will be able to go back to the normal activities. Thank you

First improvements should be seen after 6 th-12th week of treatment. Once the pain is gone, he will probably have to do some strengthening exercises. Did he get corticosteroids for inflammation reduction? If this treatment doesn’t prove to be helpful, then he may have to undergo a surgery. I honestly don’t know if he will be advised to stop with tennis or other physical activities, so that relapse doesn’t occur.
