7 weeks ago I had a pain in back of my left knee. Within a week it spread to my knee's, hips, and most other joints. Within two weeks I could not bend my knees, my hips pained constantly and my neck, back, ankles etc...felt like they were full of arthritis. I started taking nova proxen, which I had for a past back injury. When it helped and I was able to move, I went to a Doctor and he did some tests. He did an ESR test and a few more. I had a low grade fever and my blood pressure was up.. Although the pain was much better I still had the ESR test come out at 30. Two weeks later my own Doctor did tests. Reumatoid Arthritis was ruled out..but the ESR test was still high. I now need 1000 mg of nova proxen to move through my day. There is no swelling, headaches or dizziness. It just feels like I was hit by a car. She says it may take a year to see a specialist. I ache and hurt in all joints constantly. My blood pressure is still up to 143/98 today and sometimes I get a low grade fever.
I am tired from lack of sleep and scared that this might do damage to my joints over a long period of time. She says she has no idea what it could be...could you give me a direction to turn? :-(
Hi squartermain

Its worthwhile trying to see a specialist sooner rather than later. Diagnosing and naming whatever inflammatory disorder is affecting your joints is often a long drawn out process as the doctors and specialists almost go through a list of "no, not that..... not that one either.... nor that....". Its just a process of diagnosis by exclusion. Frustrating, but that's how it is. The sooner you can name it, the sooner you can move ahead with the treatment of your choice.

Hope this helps.....let us know how you go.

Regards, Olwen :-)
