I learned from my homeopathic dr that it's a candida rash. Ive had it for many years...only on the sides of a scrotum. Juice from minced garlic applied in the morning...let dry and shower regularly. It won't cure it but will heal the skin from the scratching . I've tried everything from cortisone to bag balm to prescription nystatin. The only real cure IMO is to eliminate sugars from your diet.

Yes...have it checked out now. I'm 48 and have been suffering in agony with this for the past 35yrs. My IBS (itchy ball syndrome) started when I was your age. I too was embarrassed about it because I thought it had something to do with maturbation...turn out it isnt. I agree that it may very well be related to overly active yeast, but I've also thought it had to do with nerve endings or blood flow so who the hell knows. Take the advice of an old man and NEVER be embarrassed to discuss your health with a family physician...they see this sort of stuff all the time and it's just like troubleshooting a car problem to them... Good luck son!!!

I have this problem on a random basis. I find it particularly acute when I sweat a lot and cannot dry myself sufficiently to get the moisture away from my scrotum. There is a product called Fresh Balls that is like anti-persiperant for your scrotum. It keeps the area dry regardless of the conditions. I use it when traveling and doing a lot of walking. It does not relieve the itching so much as prevents it from starting. When it is intense I use the antifungal cream followed by Gold Bond powder and the Gold Bond anti itch cream. Helps the symptoms but does not cure.

OK. I have had problems with itchy skin, mostly on my chin area. I find it gets worse when I eat a lot of bread (yeast). I also get cracks between my toes. After about 2 years, my old doctor (the guy was in his 70's), told me to put vinegar into a spray bottle and apply copious amounts to my chins and toes and let it air dry. I did this for about 5 days, and the cracks in the toes and itchy chins went away. My son is in the Army, they tell soldiers to pee on their feet when this happens ... yes it works! Vinegar will kill a fungal infection, as will uric acid (pee).

Now, I have this same issue on the inside of my scrotum; however, it has formed a quarter-sized purple area under the skin. The itching is crazy at night too. I'm thinking it is fungal, so I'm going to start hitting it with vinegar and see what happens. Guys ... another possible source of this fungus may come from masturbating. It's a good idea to make sure your hands are very clean before you do this activity.

I also have itching, redness, and the flaking of the skin just started today. Should I be worried?

I know this is an old post, but if you have had no relief... sounds very much like scabies. Common in between fingers, intensely itchy. Easily transferred to genitals. Need a pesticide cream to treat it. Should be available from pharmacy

No man should have to suffer from chronic scrotum itching for that long without a solution. Here's what you need to do.

(1) Do not be afraid to see a dermatologist and get a skin biopsy. If it's a fungus, it will show up unequivocally that it's a fungus through the KOH Test. It's a painless procedure. Anything beats scratching your scrotum and leaving open sores which sting. Only a skin biopsy will tell you whether you have a fungus. Fungal infections are the MOST common reason of itching on the scrotum. You have to rule out that possibility. If it is a fungus, GREAT. Treatment is topical or oral antifungals.

(2) If the skin biopsy's results are inconclusive, you need to see an allergist. Contact dermatitis might be a reason why you're itching in that area. People are allergic to all sorts of things. Including soap and certain underwear material.

(3) If you are not allergic to anything which has come into contact with your scrotum, you need to get tested for STDs. It's a simple and painless procedure to test for the most common STDs.

(4) If all of the above revealed nothing about your condition, you NEED to get tested for certain cancers. PUSH for it. Dermatologists or General Practitioners are not commonly keen on testing for cancers because most cancers which will cause itching (or pruritus) are very rare. Itching is common with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Itching might also be a precursor for prostate cancer. The worst disease you'd want to have on your scrotum is EMPD, which can only be treated by surgery. You NEED to get tested for these malignancies. Otherwise, you'll be facing a plight far more tragic than just an itchy crotch.

(5) If all else fails, you'll probably need to consider the possibility that it's neurological. Certain neurological disorders can cause the perception of itching in the area.

In MOST cases, you will get to the root of the problem before (5). Be persistent. There is no reason you should be treating this on your own. If whatever you have been using had not cured your symptoms, then there is no reason to continue trying out new solutions. People far more qualified than you have the tools to identify and solve your issues. Pay them and let them do their jobs.

Note: Any dermatologist who continually prescribes steroid creams for your symptoms is CLEARLY uninterested in solving your problems. Steroid creams treat the symptoms, but it is NOT A CURE. Do not, under any circumstances, be satisfied with a steroid prescription. Visit another dermatologist if you have to. I'm sure doctors will approve of scans and biopsies if you demand for them. Systemic malignancies such as lymphoma is not to be taken as a joke. People do get lymphoma and itching is common in some subtypes. I know, because I had it.

Now, SEE A DOCTOR.

Diet does not cure candida overgrowth. There are effective clinical solutions for it, in the form of oral antifungal medication. These are proven by science. Feel free, though, to believe in homeopathy and voodoo magic.

Here is the cure which worked for me. Coconut oil. After taking a bath dry out the area and massage 5 drops of coconut oil. Do the same before going to bed. Works best with organic cold pressed coconut oil. But any other from indian store would do.

I had a sore skin on my inner upper thighs and scrotum I thought it was perhaps caused by perspiring at night, most uncomfortable if you started scratching to ease make sure your nails are well trimmed which makes good sense as scratching eases the itch but can do more damage, after putting up with this for some time and trying different lotions etc I I cured it completely within a week rubbing Vaseline round the areas at night and wearing a pair of loose pants to keep the sheets clean, I have had no more trouble since, try it it worked for me

Do any of you have intense burning and soreness also? Sometimes it feels like someone it holding a lighter under my scrotum. Here is my story...About four months ago I had unprotected sex with a woman. She was supposedly "clean." My scrotum shriveled up to the size of peanut for about thee days. She is on the ring and the estrogen in it can wreck havok in some males anatomy. After three days my scrotum hung like normal but turned blood red and was on fire. This persisted for a week until I went to the doctors and he said it was probably jock itch. He gave me Tolnfatate powder and hydrocodone cream, Didn't work. Then I was freaking out about STD's, all tested negative except HSV1 which I am 99% sure I have had for years as I had a sever breakout about 14 years ago in college just never tested for it until now. I only had a minor outbreak shortly after that and it has been in check with L-lysine since. This rash is not any kind of herpes symptoms. It does not fit any symptoms of any STD. I have gone though tons of drugs, cipro, doxy, tons of OTC anti-fungals, prescription nystatin. Nothing has worked. My scrotum turns to blood red in a warm shower, to deep red through the day, purple in cold water. It iches more at night, but is closer to normal color when I wake up. It burns half the time, the other half it itches and is very tender. The redness is confined to the front of my scrotum and has definite borders. It ends before the bottom and sides where normal non scrotum skin starts. I has not grown or shrank. It can get very ichy through the day, especially on the areas just around the scrotum. My penis does not have any burning/discoloration/or ichyness, but does feel sore from time to time like I have been masturbating way to much even though I hardly ever do any more. Sometimes the urethra at the tip hurts. I honestly can't tell if this is due to its own pain, or just radiation pain from my sack. The only thing that has helped control the discomfort is a ton of Cerave cream. I have been swimming in the ocean, pool, and springs around here a lot and I noticed one day I did not put any cream on right away after I had been in the water for hours and holy cow did it itch. No doctor/dermatologist knows what it is. My gouch has become sore and itched time to time but it is rare. It is possible that is could be lice but I have never seen one even examining my hairs under a high power scope. Scabies, maybe but it never moves anywhere else. I am convinced this is not an STD as I have tested negative for all but HSV1 and this has no symptoms of it. I don't even know 100% that I got this from sex as there were a lot of things going on around the same time. I do believe it is some kind of deep embedded fungal, yeast infection but it does not move. This stuff is dang near unbearable. I just bought some blu-emu and gold bond, and I have some hydrocortisone cream around here so I am going to try that. There are countless threads on the internet on this same topic, very few but this one have ever posted any kind of results or followup.
