Over the past 2 years I have had internal vaginal pain only during or around my mentration. It feels like a a sharp stabbing pain but only last for a second or two. It continues randomly during my period. The time it hurts the most is when Im trying to release my stool. I am scared to use the restroom because the pain hurts so bad. (sorry if too nasty) but the only way I can release my stool is if I put my fingers inside my vaginal area to stop the pain. I have only asked my doctor once about this because I am ashamed and embaressed. It was during the time of my pap. He told me that I had a small UTI (urinary tract infection) but gave me medicine for it. He didnt mention anything else so I looked UTI up as soon as I got home for the symptoms. I am just not sure that a UTI is the problem. I have had this for over two years. Sexual intercourse does not cause the pain of any sort so I am confused and looking for answers. If anyone has answers or comments I would highly appreciate it.
I wonder if your pain may be muscular?  You can see a Women's Health specialized physical therapist that is qualified to provide interventions such as pelvic floor massage, e-stim, etc... whatever you may need.  I am a PT but I am not specialized in this area so I can't tell you for sure that this is what it is.  Just a possibility.  Hope you are feeling better soon!
