I then waited about six weeks for my period, and then it came...heavy flow, nothing too serious, lasted about 6 days and looked normal.
My sex drive became erratic afterwards. I have thicker discharge while being aroused, but I'll be too dry for sex, it's not the clear, slippery kind anymore that spices things up. Now I have to resort to lube, because the times it IS thin and slippery, it just evaporates......I really miss my sex drive and the wetness that is supposed to happen...ARGH. :-( :-(

It was not too red, more like brownish red, like the start of a period. I went home to get a tampon, but after the 7 minute walk, I didn't bleed much. It surprised me because after I move around a bit, I usually start bleeding red blood. I wiped a little, and all I found was brownish blood. I thought it was weird, but inserted a tampon anyway. TODAY I took it out and there is no bleeding, just more brownish stuff and the blood smell coming from down there. I am nervous!!! But still I am so glad that I'm not the only one with irregular periods after abortion!!
I do not think I am pregnant again, but today there will be an appointment at the clinic for it.

Well I am no expert but according to my research I know it is normal to have ur 1st period till 6wks after the abortion and irregular periods for the first three months...

First off, it's good to know I'm not the only one having weird issues after an abortion. All the lit they gave me at PP made it sound like I would be normal in a week or two.
I had an aspiration abortion in october to remove blood clots left in my uterus from a medical abortion in august. My periods have been extremely painful ever since. They only last about 2 and a half days, but there is a LOT of spotting before and after. It's strange, because my first period after the medical abortion was really normal despite there being retained tissue. I had my next period only 10 days after the surgical procedure.
Now my period is supposed to start in a couple days, and already I'm getting horrible cramps. I've also been spotting for the past eight days. The cramps aren't normal--very sharp pelvic pain which coincides with sharp pain near my navel. I've been back to the doctor several times, and they've looked for infection etc. They even tried to tell me I have appendicitis, but the pain definitely corresponds with my cycle. Last time he insisted it was just scar tissue or adhesions, but would that make me spot more?
I know it's normal to have weird periods after an abortion, and my abortion was weird and drawn out, but should it really be this painful? I just feel like there is something wrong...

i have really bad anxiety problems panicks attack etc..after abortion ..it been a month now i had my period couple days ago but it lasted 3 days which only 1 day i bleed..then the other 2 was a brownish color..

I'm 19 and I had an abortion at the end of December of 09' it is now the beginning of Feb and I had a literally one hour period. But, its weird because before my small period I had symptoms of a period to come. I've been on birth control for over a month now but still have not gotten a real period.

I'm afraid I have a different type of question...but can't find answers anywhere, so am hoping I might find some on here. I, too, had a medical abortion in November 09. However, prior to this, I had been diagnosed with PCOS (an unusual type, with the key symptom being a lack of natural periods!!!) Therefore, i wasn't having periods naturally at all and, prior to becoming pregnant, I was on Metformin, which was giving me monthly periods. Throughout the 7 week pregnancy I was having pains. Following the abortion, as is often the case, I had several weeks of VERY heavy bleeding and became anaemic. Since then, however, I have had two REGULAR and NATURAL periods - end of December and end of January...and feel as though I am about to have another one...end of February.
Therefore, my question is WHY!? Does this mean I am back to normal now? What's happened? Has the pregnancy changed me permanently, or should I not get my hopes up? Is my PCOS still there?!
I'd appreciate any ideas! :-D

I am to in the same situation. had my 1st period on the 13,6,10 after having the abortion. and then had another bleed a week later...and now its the 22,7,10 and havnt come on!!! i keep thinking im pregnant again, its doing my head in

hi i had an abortion on last month april 18th and 13th may i got my period again. This time the flow is very minimal first i could see very few clots and sopts. i comepleted 5 days still i am having minimal bleeding going on. generally for me first 3 days will be over flow and next with a minimal flow it will stop. but this time all the 5 days with minimal bleeding it is stil lgoing and i am worried how long it will go. please help me out.

I don't know if anyone will read this but even though these comments are over a year old i still foudn them useful when I have recently been worried about not having my second period and panicking! I was so so scared it's unreal so emotional because I had cramps for a week but no bleeding and I was three days late... this is what I had when i was pregnant the implantation cramps and in my mind i thought god i must be pregnant again! I was so worried you can not understand, crying and arguing with my boyfriend refusing to have sex until my period came.... i literally felt sick with worry! I myself cant' ever imagine having to go through an abortion again I couldn't physically do it let alone mentally it's a horrible horrible process and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. So the purpose of this post is just to say... don't worry!! My period came after three days never in my life have i been so happy to see blood and go to the shops with such a smile on my face for tampons! All i'm going to say is don't worry stress will make them come on longer, and USE PROTECTION it is not something to take lightly anymore... my rule was to wait one week after i was due then take a pregnancy test then it would be most accurate once you're significantly late. Please be careful though ladies, I myself will take extra measures to put my mind at rest so I can get on with my life and not worry anymore.. I really hope anyone who is currently worrying about this has the same experience as me which most likely you will... Thank you so much for sharing as your posts really helped me :)

I was only 18 when I got pregnant so my parents decided me to undergo abortion which I and my boyfriend doesn't want to. We have no choice but to obey my parents. It was October 05, 2011 when my baby was aborted, he/she was only a month old. October to June I have regular menstruation, every 15th of the month and it stops after 6-7 days. But when it was July 15 up until now, i'm bleeding.. No stop, sometimes it's just a spot of blood but sometimes bloody.. Before that irregular menstruation, October to January I'm taking pills and then I stop it because we decided to have a baby. We are having unprotected sex, but now it's already August 2012, i never got pregnant. I'm crying every night thinking that this was our KARMA of having this abortion. Is it possibly that I could be still pregnant?
