I just had surgery on mondayand am currently recovering. It just so happens this is my placebo pill week. The only antibiotic I've taken by mouth is percocet, but I'm off it now. I'm suppose to start a new pill pack on Sunday. This next week (monday-friday) ill be seeing my boyfriend. should we use a backup method of birth control? Or am I still covered? I know they probably put antibiotics in my IV too. I forgot to ask my doctor so I'm not sure if we should use condoms or does the pill still have me covered? I've never once missed a pill.
Hi honey! Percocet is for pain - it isn't an antibiotic! Are you sure that this is all you had? IF they gave you antibiotics was it because of an appendix?
Just a note, each BCP has it's own formula some are affected more by antibiotics than others, BUT either way Antibiotics only lower BCP effectiveness by upto 5%
I ALWAYS say to use a condom EVERY time even if you are on the pill! This stops ANY chance of becoming pregnant OR getting most STD's!

Thats the only thing I've taken and yea it was only for pain. I just assume they put stuff in my IV, but I don't know.
I had my gallbladder removed. But yea percocet is the only thing I've taken by mouth. My boyfriend doesnt like condoms and he has trouble keeping it up, lol. and they bug me also because they irritate my skin. But if I know I need to use them, I will. But do you think itd be ok not to use them? I still don't know. Idk if my chances are lowered or not.

It's your guys choice NOT to be protected! But I had to say you need to be protected!
Anyways your BCP is NOT lessened by Painkillers! BUT be careful with your Gallbladder surgery and having sex right away - as this is a fresh wound! OK? Good luck and health!
