I am 37 years old and I have two beautiful kids. I would like to ask something about arteriosclerosis. Is it hereditary? I mean, my father has it and I am not that worried for me, but for my kids, I just want to know if there is any risk for them. So, can you tell me if I should be concerned or not? Thanks in advance…
I don’t think that you should b worried for them just yet. I mean, it really needs decades for that plaque in arteries to build up and that only happens if the person is leading a completely unhealthy life. Yes, there is some risk for them, because this is a condition that obviously runs in the family, but that is simply not enough, especially if you teach them to take care of themselves.
This is a reply to rawley1086. Please don't tell people that "it really needs decades for that plaque in arteries to build up and that it only happens if the person is leading a completely unhealthy life." My father died from arteriosclerosis at the age of 42, and did not fit what you described. I think it is unwise to post such a thing. There are so many factors that come into play and to post something like that, that gives a false sense of relief, is somewhat irresponsible.
