Hello, I am slightly concerned about what's happening with me right now. 5 days ago I had brown discharge for 3 days(which always happens right before my period), but after the 3 days, I just got a little bit or clear discharge(only in the evenings) until now (with odors and cramps). I don' know if it's just a normal period or something else, but I usually get my period at the end of the month, but this started at the beginning of the month.

I am in my mid teens an only started getting periods a few months ago(brown discharge for around 2-3 days, then bleeding for around 3-4 days, then brown discharge again for around 1-2 days). I usually get my period every 28-30 days. I don't use birth control and I don't do any "adult activities". By the way, I use ibuprofen for cramps(which doesn't really help that much) and headaches and medicine to help with nose issues.

I started exercising 2 weeks ago. Only around half an hour a day. I also started drinking more water and eating(a little bit) less sweets.

My family is going on vacation on the 20th and I don't know if it's safe to swim in the ocean or if i should pack some extra pads.

Thanks for your attention.

Hi!

It's not uncommon for menstrual cycles to be irregular during the first few years after starting your period, especially during adolescence. Changes in the length, timing, and characteristics of your period can occur as your body adjusts and establishes a regular hormonal pattern. So, the changes you're experiencing might be a normal variation.

Regarding swimming in the ocean during your period, it's generally safe to do so while using appropriate menstrual products like pads or tampons. These products can help prevent leakage and allow you to enjoy your vacation without worries. It's a personal choice, and you should use whatever menstrual product you feel comfortable with.

Have a nice vacation.
