I totally agree. I have spinal stenosis and MS. My doctor just prescribed Robaxin and I"m a little nervous. But I agree that completely that Marijuana is a great medicine (although I am afraid to use that too.). That being said, no one has ever OD'd on MJ AND most importantly, IT IS NOT ADDICTIVE NOR A GATEWAY DRUG!! If MJ is a gateway drug then water is a gateway substance to alcohol. There is NO SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE that it is illegal.
THANK YOU!! It was just prescribed for me and I am a little scared to take it though i have used opiod painkillers (prescribed..and used carefully) but I think my back issues are spasmodic.
I so feel for your pain .... I have been thru the same thing with my multiple sclerosis and taking oxy for pain and soma to just be able to halfway function. You are right about those "assholes" that ruined it for the rest of us that were taking things correctly and getting some relief from these helpful medications. Unfortunately, there will always be some that take advantage of these medications and ruin it for the rest of us that truly need them for pain management. Yes, please do not blame the drug....
I have been on soma for almost 5yrs they help me my doctor well no longer write scripts for soma and have tried me on 3 different muscle relaxers and None of them work or help me I wake up several times a night I don't want to take more than I have been prescribed to take a night but I don't know what to do :( I am on 750mg and they Do Not Help
I agree totally!! It's like how is the new meds helping? .. which. .med and which pain!!..fibromyalgia, pinched nerve in lower spine, left shoulder(3rd surgery next) or recent (3rd)surgery on my left anklle!! Not to mention cronic pain!!!!,oubg
My husband has suffered a chronic pain disorder for 8 years now. He was up to 6 30mg oxy a day that still was not enough. Our Dr had to literally talk us into it for a year (due to the stigma in our minds, I had only heard about it for heroin addicts) but Methadonr has bern a game changer for my husband. I did extensive research of my own and found it is being prsecribed more and more for patients suffering from a chronic pain disorder. He does not have the highs and lows when he was on the oxy. He says it relieves the electrical nerve pain far better. He had tried everything to include Morphine (which sent him spiraling into a depression). It was morphine pump in his back (as if he needs any more surgeries) or Methadone. Do some research and talk to your doc. Sending healing thoughts~Jessica
I have fibromyalgia Arrow box and has been working fine for me
Shut up. You're an addiction in denial! Period, end of story.....
OMG, I literally feel your pain. I once told a Dr. that told me she thought I liked to take pills. I almost hit her. I have arthritis, bursitis, high blood pressure, a degenerate disk, and had gastric bypass surgery so I have to take several vitamin supplements for the rest of my life and I'm in my forties. Who the hell WANTS to take all those pills. I almost chocked to death trying to take my meds one day. I told her I felt like stopping all my meds and vitamins and see what happens. Then she said don't do that and referred me to psychiatry. By the way, I don't see her anymore. I've never heard of soma though. I take a low dose norco now and it doesn't help at all. I wonder how or if it would work with the soma. I'll have to ask my doctor his thoughts.
I could not have said it better myself. You wrote you have tried a dozen different relaxants you finally found something that works. Did you mean nothing works? that is how I understand it reading the rest of what you wrote. If you did mean something what is it.
I know this is an old post, but having been in severe chronic pain that had me bedridden, I just wanted to say I empathize with you. Fortunately, A lot of my pain subsided (out of the blue) allowing me to live a fairly active lifestyle. I wanted to tell you there is a light at the end of the tunnel, it just takes awhile to get there., I was in bed over 8 months! And while the pain i.e. I'll always be there...it's manageable. I chucked the sofas and Norcos in favor of a morphine implant. A blessing. I highly urge you to check on getting one. They're no big deal to have pilot in, and keeps a small drip internally of morphine steady 24/7. Also way much better for your heart.
Or grab you some pot...not legal in my state, but I don't care. It works on pain and nausea every time. Also helps me eat, sleeps and keeps my anxiety in check. God bless...hang in there.

THANK YOU!!! I could have written the exact same thing.I spent the late 80's and early 90's playing guinea pig, trying to find some relief. After discovering, to my horror, that not only am I allergic to many drugs, but I also have a tolerance that allowed me to wake up on the operating table. We finally settled on Soma, (as flexeril works well, but has the Jekyl/Hyde effect on personality) and, as needed, hydrocodone. I was able to manage my spasms, and my pain, for nearly two decades, (unmanaged pain was obvious, through skyrocketing blood pressure), until Oblahblahcare caused three successive physicians to retire. I am now on ZERO meds, and suffering with numb toes, pain and weakness, and spasms that contort my body. Thank you to all the assholes who just wanted to "get high". I just want to function, again. I don't care about losing the pain meds, but it would certainly be nice to not have spasms that take my breath, and make those around me think I am having a heart attack. Oh, to sleep without the agony of it. Just to have a soma, would be a god-send. Robaxin is useless, but makes me sick to my stomach. NSAIDS make me wheeze. Now, my unmanaged pain is causing my, normally, low blood pressure to stay higher.
Oh so true!
Sorry to hear that.I begged my brothers doctor to stop the soma and his wife said "you can't tell us how to treat our patients" ..he was all jacked up on soma when he went in.needless to say..the doctors are out of business and they lost all their property's. ."due to me not being able to tell them how to treat their patients " Medicare fraud..
I get sciatica often due to a spinal injury. When the flair up are at their worst, I've always taken Soma. I'm the type who does not like to change meds. If it works, why take a chance and mess that up? So I was skeptical when my doctor gave me Robaxin. But it worked! Yesterday I was tilted to the right and couldn't walk with my back straight up. Today I am so much better. What a relief!
