Hello,

I am so sorry that your wife has been diagnosed with Polymyositis. This is a disease of muscle which means inflammation of the muscle fibers. The cause of this condition is still unknown. It begins like most of the autoimmune conditions but in this case white blood cells invade muscles.

Affected muscles are usually those closest to the torso and his results in weakness that can be severe.

Polymyositis is a chronic condition with periods of increased symptoms or relapses and minimal or no symptoms at all or remissions.

Polymyositis is slightly more common in females but it affects all age groups and to answer your question, there is no evidence that this condition is hereditary. But before making babies consult your doctor.
