Can I get some information about unani please? I read about this on a friend's blog... Which was the first time I ever heard the word. I think that it is some kind of Islamic curative technique? Is that right or not? How does it work? Does it work? Please give me a short introduction to unani. Thanks!
Arabic, yes, but by no means strictly Islamic. In fact the word unani means "Greek" because it is largely based on Hippocratic teachings. Much like ayurveda, it uses herbs to cure various diseases on the basis of the idea of the "whole person" and four elements that need to remain in balance. It is still used as a valid form of medicine in quite a few countries.
