It has been three weeks since my surgery and I have "Dry Nose Syndrome" Is this permanent or will normal mucous production return? I haven't any natural moisture and is painful. I humidify and moisturize regularly but no results.
Hey,
I don't know all that much about empty nose syndrome but didn't want to leave you without any replies either. I do know that this is really a very rare condition, that can cause a lot of pain. Suggested treatments include using saline solutions or other (oily) nasal lubricants to keep the inside of the nose moist (if what you are using right now is not working ask your pharmacist for something else). Obviously infection risk goes up so if you get one that will need to be treated, and even undergoing surgery to rid yourself of the symptoms. As far as I understand empty nose syndrome, it does not necessarily resolve on its own.
In this case, I would be talking to the surgeon who did your trubinate surgery as soon as possible.
