Hi Im 18 i havent had sex in about... a year and the last girl i had sex with we had protected sex for the first 3 months until my condom broke. From that day on we still used condoms, she claimed to be clean, but every now and then i will get a burning stinging itchy sensation its almost similar to when your done working with fiberglass and you get fiberglass insulation in your skin. I have tried different soaps because my cousin had a problem with some soaps being too harsh and i explained it to him. I feel embarased about it but i cant deal with havin to stop what it is im doing to scratch. Ive noticed it is slightly a darker red at the underside of the head and that is where it itches/burns/stings. I have no discharges, no bumps or warts, no open ulcers, nothing that would indicate herpes or any of the other common stds. Should i see a dermatoligist or go to my regular doctor with my concern?
Well, I suppose you would have to get a referral for the dermatologist and you may also mention this to your GP and you will see what s/he has to say about it.
Your symptoms remind me of fungal infection that may have nothing to do with the unprotected sexual intercourse you had with this girl or any other girl.
Candida Albicans (the most common fungus that invades the genitals) can be contracted after an antibacterial treatment, it could overgrow after using spermicide condoms, it could appear due to harsh soaps and other irritants.
If it is a fungal infections, it could be easily fixed with otc anti-fungal creams. I would have it checked first and get the right treatment right away rather than experiment on my own.

80% of people with herpes do not have "classical" symptoms. Symptoms can be as mild as tingling or redness.
Herpes is very common in young adults, as high as 1 in 4. Some estimates as high as 1 in 3. Most people are asymptomatic or have minor, unrecognized symptoms.
Herpes can be diagnosed with a blood test. However, you must request to be tested. Herpes testing is not part of a standard STD screening. Request a type specific test, Herpeselect IgG seems to be widely reccommended.
Good Luck.

I had a similar problem. It took me years to figure out what it was.
I have had intermittent issues with athlete's foot, and this can transfer to one's groin or penis fairly easily. Doctors don't necessarily think of this when you go in to discuss the issue with them. (None of mine initially did.)
Finally, I went to a dermatologist who also said he didn't see much, but that there must me some issue if I am experiencing intense stinging. He finally came up with the athlete's foot theory, proscribed some cream and it worked like a charm.
If you don't want to go to the doctor, you can also was 15 minutes twice a day with Selsun Blue shampoo.

I am currently experiencing the same harsh burn and itch ,accompanied w/ redness on the penis head :-| ... I believe I came to a point that I had washed with a new soap and the symptoms started shortly after 8-| ...I can safely rule-out sex having anything to do with it - sex makes the symptoms worse xp ... you can go to the doctor and he/she will prescribe an antibiotic that might clear it up XD ,I am currently not using any soap (water wash) and it is slowly clearing ,but I am not quite clear yet :$
Go to a dermatologist. The symptoms could be caused by an allergy to condoms, to your soap - as your cousin mentioned - or to your laundry detergent, or even your clothes. Try using sensitive skin products and wear all-cotton underwear, and use a penile health creme with Shea butter for the itching.
Yes, and it's never a bad idea to get checked for STIs. You should be doing it once or twice a year if you're sexually active. But if it's just dry skin, a lotion like Man1 Man Oil could help.
You might just have sensitive skin down there. Lots of guys do. Luckily, it is easily treated. Buy yourself a penis health creme and use it every day. The vitamins and moisturizers found in an all natural creme will repair damanged skin and condition it for the future too. Check it out. And make sure you get tested for STI's a few times a year. It will alleviate a lot of unnecesary worry. Good luck.
I have had this on and off for years. Initially, my doctor gave me a small tube of corticosteroid cream, but when that ran out I used over the counter antiseptic cream which seemed to be just as effective. I began to wonder if it was irritation due certain chemicals in the urine and poor hygiene. However washing with brand name soaps and shower gels seem to make the problem worse temporarily. Also, I discovered that stress or other panic emotions make the situation worse, so I think it is partly physiological.
I really did not want to go to a relative's wedding last year, but could not back out; and was a bag of nerves until after the ceremony. 24 hours later the stinging pain became agony, so bad that I could hardly move for fear of making it worse. I had had a similar experience 48 hours into a holiday the previous year, and these two excrutiating events made me think my worry and nerves were a big contributory factor; similar to eczema, or also migraine.
I thought alcohol may be making it worse, but after a few drunken days I have concluded (look away now temperance people) that it actually improves the situation. Whether that is because as a diuretic it stimulates more (and thus less concentrated) urine which is not such an irritant, I don't know.
I am currently trying to discover if various spices are contributory. I do believe that eating fish or shellfish may give a slight worsening effect.
The excrutiating events rarely last more than 24 hours, and then it can be weeks before something sets it off again.
