I have the exact same condition as the orginal author of this topic. I work for an international company and I have been told that I am the 4th person in 2 days to be identified with this.
In my home town my local pharmacy has 3 memebers of staff off work with the same thing.
I have been given Prednisolone and Hayfever tablets which don't seem to be making much of an impact.
My hands are swelling and my whole body including my face has this.
Can anyone tell me if they got an answer in the end

Hi,
Only have 2 seconds as I'm at work, but wanted to say I've had all of these symptoms, the swelling hands \ feet, the "allergic" reaction to pressure, vomiting, constipation, IBS, etc, etc.
This all started out as stomach bloating, then IBS, then the "allergic reactions, the big red welts, itchy skin, skin so swollen and red that it hurt, then depression, followed by worsening energy levels, chronic fatigue and feeling detached and emotionally "out of touch"
I've found that I've had food intollerances for most of my life, undiagnosed they caused leaky gut, which in turn made them worse. The key ones were wheat, yeast & dairy. The dairy makes little white pimples on my skin, makes me bloat and gives me snuffly nose and sinus problems. The wheat and yeast caused stomach aches, IBS, constipation and flatulence.
These weren't treated as noone could tell me what was going wrong with me and this led my down a very poorly path. My body struggled to cope and tried everything to reduce the amount of toxins I was holding. I would be sick anything up to 20 times a day, my skin reactions became immediate and severe.
Eventually I found a nutrional therapist who was amazing. I gave up meat and processed food, used supplements to help support my body and performed a number of fasting cleanses.
I saw huge improvements in weeks and have returned to an acceptable degree of health. I've been battling this for about 15 years now and if I'm good and stay away from the stuff I know is bad for me then I'm fine, but usually I walk a fine line between enjoying the stuff I shouldn't have and staying healthy.
Of all of this, I would say, the most likely cause of all of my problems was yeast. Yeast causes so many problems and isn't treated or looked for by your doctore unless you get thrush. In general, GPs don't consider yeast infections to be a real threat and many won't acknowledge that Candida is real.
My advice to you all, learn as much as you can about candida, cut out all processed food, stay off sugar and stay well away from any kind of fermented alcohol - so its spirits, spirits, spirits.
But...... just remember, if your body is coping with lots of everyday detoxing after you've had a drink, it will be far too busy to deal with fixing your more fundamental problems.
If you can afford it, see a nutritional therapist but make sure they're registered with a good governing body to avoid the quacks.
Hope this helps,
Gill

Hi,
just came across this thread while i was looking up something else. I had very similar symptoms last year and because i had a rash that looked looked ringworm, that was what i was diagnosed as. After two weeks of treatment the rash didn't go away, but instead it stayed and i broke out in itchy red rash/dots in clumps all over my back, chest and neck. I went and got a second opinion and doctor said that i had Pityriasis Rosea. It is a type of virus, the first rash is the "Herald Mark" and it looks like a ringworm, then smaller rashes break out on the trunk of your body which are extremely red and itchy. Basically my doc said there was no cure as it was a virus and they're really not sure how you get it, but they did know that it wasn't contageous. It can last from 3 months to years, they really don't know. I did some research on the internet and although i don't personally reccommend doing this, there were some success stories of people using the solerium. I had two sessions at the solerium and the rashes cleared completely within 2 weeks and its been a year on and i havent' had a problem since!!

Here's what happened to me..
At 10pm my hands began to itch I thought nothing of it.
That night at 1pm I woke my self up scratching my hands. I thought it was something that I touched so walked down stairs I washed my hands with soap and water and scrubbed them with a brush.
I went back to bed only to wake up again scratching my hands. This time I was scratching them by rubbing my hands together as if I was outside in the cold. I woke up my wife because I was doing this so hard that my fingers were cracking (yuck!).
The harder I scratched the more they itched. Then I realized I was scratching my back, legs and arms too. I woke up 6 times scratching!
The next morning I took a look at myself in the mirror and my back and shoulders were covered in red (not really raised) spots. These spots only show up on my back, but, and back of my legs. WEIRD.
I have not feet issues like others have posted.
I hope it goes away... as I type this my hands feel swelled and itchy.

Could be lyme desease. Very difficult to diagnose and you usually test negative for it. I saw a Mystery Diagnosis and most doctors don't realize that you can have lyme desease and still test negative for it.

What you describe is eczema. Cortisone cream can be used to control it. Also a cream called Elidel may be effective.

Hello. It could also be 5th's Disease. Most common in children, I had these symptoms and the blood test was conclusive that it was 5th's Disease. An antibiotic helped immediately even though it is viral. for what it's worth!

My brother in law has this problem- he is allergic to wheat germ. He can not eat anything that has wheat germ in it- including beer, wheat bread, etc. If he does ( and I have seen it happen) he gets those bumps, his hands and feet itch and he says it is really painfull. Just an idea- I am not a doctor.

I was glad to come across this blog. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.
My symptoms are as follows
Sporadic swelling in hands, feet, occasionally on lips or under eyes.
Occasional Esophageal spasms (esophigus tightens making it diffacult to swallow.)
Hives on arms, torso and occasionally legs.
Bumps on the back of the head.
Swelling on areas that get long pressure such as when motorcycling.
I first experienced this about 5 years ago. At the time I was told it was allergies but the test for the top 40 allergens came up negative. The allergist told me he thought it was due to a case of athletes foot. He prescribed lamisil in full prescription strength. The symptoms went away. This time around the lamisil did not work and I have had no signs of athletes foot. I think it was originally a coincidence.
I still hold the belief that this is allergy related in some sort. I believe that I am allergic to Downey fabric softener and it appears as though the symptoms may lessen if Downey is not used. I'll let you know once all my clothes have been worn that were again washed with it. My symptoms showed up about a month after my girlfriend started using it. I have also noticed that I'll flare up pretty quick if I drink a Diet Coke or eat Almonds. Though I have consumed both for years, the coincidence seems pretty clear to me. Something for everyone to keep in mind is that this could be the result of multiple allergens. In my case, it may be a matter of a mild allergy to Downey and a mild allergy to something in Diet Coke. Together they may be producing enough histimines for the symptoms to show. I recommend that you test your deodorant, fabric softeneer and laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, hair care products and other things around your house. If you drink diet soda's, try switching to coffee or Iced Tea for a week or two. Many allergens take time to leave your body.
I have learned that the prick tests done at the Dr.'s office are pretty easy to do at home. I'll use a sterile needle or pin and place a small amount of the suspected allergen on the pin. I then give myself a very mild poke and see what happens. If a welt appears in the same spot, I know I have an allergen on my hands. I'll do one poke first with out any suspected allergens on it. If a welt appears there too then I know it is a matter of my body reacting to the poke, not the allergen. I am not an MD and have no medical background so if you try this at home you are doing so at your own risk.
As for over the counter meds. Benedryl can be helpful but I recommend taking it at night as it knocks me out and most likely will you too. Zyrtec has been helpful on some days but not always. Please keep in mind that with these meds, they need to be taken regularly as in daily and follow the directions on the label. Anti-histimines only block the production of new histimines but do not remove them if they have already been released into your body. It's up to your body to get them out once it has put them there so don't just take one day to determine if your allergy medicine is working. Take the recommended dosage for a week and see what happens.
I have had two heart attacks. The first was at age 31 and the second was at age 38. Both times my symptoms showed up, it was about a year to a year and a half after having the heart attacks. Part of me wonders if there could be any correlation.
Good luck to all in sorting this out. Please keep us posted to your discoveries.
