I'm going through the exact thing it's very uncomfortable and it doesn't feel good had my mirena in almost 5 but I have another year to go and I'm on my 4 year and for this 4 year my problems has started just as how u stated yours and I'm wondering & thinking hard about making the decision on getting rid of this don't want any more babies but my body is more important than letting some mirena have my body all out of whack this is c**p all the doctors want is money off of these things.

OMG, i can so relate to this i inserted the MIRENA about 2months ago now. it is very irritating. ive had a foul smell and some discharge. I didn't have these symptoms before i inserted the IUD, i just made an appointment to remove the IUD. i am assuming that having something in your uterus for such time without being able to remove and clean it can cause these foul smells.

Thanks

Some of these posts are older but I had to voice this as I have had the same problems and only had mine for 1 month before I just removed it myself! I happened I stumble on these threads when my first yeast infection hit about 2 weeks after the insertion and thought that was strange timing since I have never had one. I googled it and found this. It's very worrisome that this is on the market. It felt like my vagina was on fire and itchy and swollen. I thought my husband was cheating on me!! Went to the doc and they said its all fine and put zinc cream on. Well eff that. Clearly this is not something we should be using as women. What ramifications are there down the road after prolonged exposure?!! I am shocked and there goes $400 hard earned dollars down the drain. It's very simple to remove on your own. I took a warm bath to relax and then slowly pulled. It did not hurt at all and I feel more like myself today already. Mood swings bye bye!! I want my vagina back to good health. Good riddance Mirena!!

I hate the Mirena. I've had it the full 5 years and the last 2 were the worst. I have chronic bacteria vaginitis, I've taken so many antibacterial meds that my OBGYN can't understand why I keep getting it. I told her numerous occasions it's the dreadful Mirena. Luckily I'm getting this thug removed in 2 days so I'm EXCITED to get rid of this piece of junk

I would definitely take it out! It's only going to lead to more bacterial vaginitis, yeast infections and possibly a colposcopy (they remove pieces of you skin in your vagina)

I got my mirena in march of 2011 and I have never ever ever had a yeast infection or BV until I got the iud. I went to the dr in September because I had that god awful garbage smell, like so bad that my boyfriend could smell it when we were in the car together, turned out to be BV, treated with metro gel and I just went to the dr yesterday for a different problem and she told me I definitely had a yeast infection, did cultures to test for yeast, BV and trich, looked at the results online this morning and it came back positive for yeast and BV. This is the 4th time I've had yeast and the 5th time I've had BV

I just was diagnosed with Bacteria Vaginosis a little over a week ago and yes it was very embarrassing. They put me on Flagel for 5 days which made me very sick to my stomach and within 2 days of being off of it i started with a yeast infection. I also have the Mirena and always have Vaginal problems including UTI's to. It seems like something is always going on. I love the Mirena but if it is causing these problems it isn't worth the trouble. Have tried a lot of different birth controls and this seem to be the best for me but not sure what to do now.
