I am 13, male, 5 foot 4, 110 pounds and I want to lose weight, but it is impossible. I have been trying for years. I have tried cutting out sweets, drinking lots of water, calorie counting, HIIT cardio and multiple other things. I just can’t seem to lose weight. I currently don’t play any sports, but I go outside a lot and do exercises at home. I have no clue why I can’t lose weight it. If anyone has an idea of what I could be doing wrong please let me know. Thanks
Hi Randel,
You are right about where you should be for a 13 year old male. 110 pounds is about average.
You ARE going to gain muscle mass as you enter puberty. Muscle weighs more than fat per volume.
That is a very good point and I have thought about that, but I am confused by this one thing. My friend , his name is James, is only about it 3 inches taller than me and he weighs 115 and is skinnier than a pencil. I on the other hand, am not super skinny. I have a bit of a gut and I have some fat around my waist.
This is Randel I just forgot to put my name
We all have different builds Randel. Some guys are just skinny. You're also still growing.
As you hit puberty that gut should go away. Testosterone, from your testes, will help you get rid of the gut.
Ask your doctor next time you see them as to whether or not you need to lose weight.

Oh ok I see what you are getting at. Thank you for the helpful answer. It makes me feel better to know that my body will take care of it.
