I have had this bump under the skin of my labium majus for about 6 months. At first it was painless, then it hurt, then it went away. It seems to come back with every period, and then goes away again. As far as I can tell from the research online its an abcess or a cyst. I should be going to the doctor at some point, but a poor college student, working part time with no money for a doctor has a hard time wanting to pay their prices. The research I found says to go have it looked at, even though it may go away. Possible HPV infection... So ya. If any of you ladies have the courage to go get tested I would. Please post back for the rest of us.

Hi,

I have had one of these on the right hand side for a couple of years and haven't had any pain or other problems with it. I did some research and it sounds like "Bartholin's Cyst" which is caused by a blockage of the Bartholin glands. Apparently like many other types of cysts it is harmless unless it gets larger and starts to bother you, but always worth getting checked out by a doctor in case it's something else ....

I had the same thing. Started out as a pea size lump on the outer labia. Within 4 days it doubled in size and became painful. I went to the DR this morning. She said a bacterial infection and prescribed anti-biotics and warm compresses.

Well, I had a lump size of a small bird's egg for 6 months and it didn't bother me, then it swelled and got red so I went to my GP who sent me to a gyno and then an ultra sound which said it was a solid lump. He said it needed to come out, couldn't just take a little for a biopsy needed to take the whole thing. Day surgery but it is now a swollen, black, mess that is still bleeding two days later and I really wonder if it was necessary having read all the other posts. If I had to do it over again I would definitely ask for a second opinion and I bet they would say to just leave it...but he mentioned the "c" word and then you feel like you have to obey them

Hello!

I have just found the same lump you’re all talking about.
The best description I read was the comparison to bubble wrap.
It’s a little larger than a pea and deep under the skin of my left lip of the vagina parallel to the clitoris.
It moves around when I touch the area however still seems like its attached at the bottom (if that makes sense)
It doesn’t hurt or cause any discomfort what so ever however it is causing a lot of concern.

I'd strongly advise all of you to get checked out by your Dr just to put your mind at ease, were all clearly worried about this otherwise we wouldn’t be researching it :-)

I'll let you know if I hear any valuable information.

Hello! Me again..

Okay so I just came back from the Drs.
They had a good look and feel and turns out to be an infected hair follicle from either shaving or waxing etc.
Although the lump seems too deep to be an infection I was assured it was nothing to worry about.
I was given 1 weeks’ worth of antibiotics so I guess I’ll know more in a week’s time but seriously if you’re worried...

GO AND SEE YOUR DR!

They're there to help :)

this could be a bartholins cyst if its near or just inside the entrance of the vagina..A Bartholin's gland cyst is a swollen fluid-filled lump that develops from a blockage of one of the Bartholin's glands, which are small glands located on each side of the opening to the vagina. Bartholin's gland cysts and abscesses are commonly found in women of reproductive age, developing in approximately 2% of all women.

Description

The Bartholin's glands are located in the lips of the labia that cover the vaginal opening. The glands (normally the size of a pea) provide moisture for the vulva area. A Bartholin's gland cyst may form in the gland itself or in the duct draining the gland. A cyst normally does not cause pain, grows slowly, and may go away without treatment. It usually ranges in size from 0.4-1.2 in. (1-3 cm), although some may grow much larger.

If infected, a Bartholin's gland cyst can form an abscess that will increase in size over several days and is very painful. In order to heal, a Bartholin's gland cyst usually must be drained.

I have noticed a few small lumps over the last year...almost like a deep tissue pimple that doesn't form a white head.  Twice now I have had them turn into a white head and they popped on my labia minora.  They hurt like a pimple, then they go away after about a week.  Now I have one that is about the size of a large pea and deeper in the tissue higher up by my pubic bone or mons pubis area.  I have an appointment next wed.  The nurse said this can be common, but to rule anything out they need to see me....plus I'm due for my annual.  With enough of us girls having a similar issue, I don't think it is anything major to be concerned with.  Don't look online, as everything points to cancer.  :-/  I will post what I find out next week.

Oh ladies! I am 24 years old and I've had HPV, my last pap was normal. I found a small hard bump on the inner labia this morning. My birth control was just switched and i think that it is giving me a yeast infection... i have been with only one man, my soon to be husband since 12/09/2010 and its now 06/27/12. Of course when we started dating i told him i had HPV, But of course have since been cleared. I was so worried this morning because all i could this was has my hpv come back?, but i never had warts or anything like that with it, so now i have calmed down some thanks to all of you, i am going to say something to my mother and doctor but i honestly believe after reading everything on here that it is nothing to be worried about. I will wait for 2 weeks and see if it goes away. thanks for everything!!

Do you think you can ask your husband what of the pea-sized ball grew and now I have another one the same sized next to it and now a very small one on the other side of my labia. When you touch it it moves like yours did it doesn't hurt but I'm still scared it might be cancer.
