Hi Ladies,
I am also glad for the support. I have had these bumps even before I ever had sex, and every doctor has pointed out the 'stress, weight, hormone' factors. Regardless of any explanations, whenever this happens it is incredibly worrisome still even after reassurance from docs. For example, I just went to the STD clinic yesterday to check again (yes, I researched that a partner in a relationship may have or never have an obvious herpes outbreak, give it to their partner unwittingly later ,who then may have an outbreak even years later). Any way, yesterday one bump on my labia minora had popped and bled on toilet tissue; it must have been small since I didn't really notice I had it, but they range in size from small (unnoticeable unless searched for, to large and painful), and this one was painless. My visit yesterday was also spurred on by a separate anal issue (probably due to straining and or hemmorhoid issues I have). The clinic thoroughly checked my vulva and anus and did not even find one suspicious sign of herpes to even test for; she even couldn't find anything where my labia bled. I feel this issue is making me go insane sometimes; and I hate stressing my beloved boyfriend over this so often over the past five years we've been together. I have become an official hypochondriac!!! To add to my pathology, I noticed a regular painless blister on my finger from pounding meat today and started freaking about herpes again. I had to research the symptoms of herpes on fingers and remembered I probably got this painless one today from pounding meat with a metal mallet. Oh, and to the lady who asked whether I have ever gotten the bumps around my clitoris, YES and they were very painful!

These are not uncommon. I've aked my doctor, and I'm serious through experience. It is not herpes!!!! When my thighs rub together when walking or the action of my husband's thighs rub against me during sex, or certain fabrics rub against my inner thighs- I get them afterward. It's not a lot, yet periodically. YES, they hurt and become sore when they are not ready to be popped, and sometimes are deep, hard risens. YES, they are annoying like pimples. YES, people should not assume through ignorance that it's a disease per say because it's not.

Hi,
I can't belive there are so many of us with this type of problem !
4 months ago i had a pea size lump near my clit area, it burst but left a small hard lump. I then noticed over a couple of weeks that there was now quite a few small lumps along my right side labia lip. They do not hurt they are not red or getting any worse, but they seem to have been left form this enitial spot.
The docotor said they were cycts and not to worry as they were so small, a sencon opinion told me it was thrush under the skin and gave me a tablet and cream, this did no good and i still have them over 3 months later! happily married for 15 years this is really getting me down, I don't want to have sex since i know they are there and don't knwo exactly what they are ? plus when i wash i can't stop felling and poking them about, I have had not other problems with weeping or sorness as all just these annoying row of small lumps just under the skin ! has anyone else had this problem ??

It's been so reassuring reading that I'm not the only one. I think I had my first one in my early teens, and right now have six of the damned things. I attribute my recent outburst to the stress of starting a new relationship and wanting it to be good for him as it can. The first time I've had sex in two years, and this is the reward I get... Oh well. So between stress, not eating as well as I should and the stimulation of sex, it's almost a guarantee that these irritating and painful things will come back again and again. Time to de-stress my life and go on a detox, I think!

Thank you ladies so much.
I, too have this problem and finally decided to look it up on the web.
While I'm sorry that you all experience it, too it is very comforting to know I am not alone in this.
I have been in a monogamous relationship with my husband for 27 years & we have been through 3 births, 1 hysterectomy & 1 pelvic reconstruction surgery together. The idea of it being some sort of STD or herpes just wasn't a question. While I don't feel that I've been under stress lately I suppose that menopause (I still have my ovaries) could be factoring into this equation. ~ Since some of you have noticed getting them around your menses.

This latest one I have I didn't even realize was there, till I was shaving (not my legs) & nicked it. Since my eyes aren't what they use to be, I aked hubby to take a closer look. He tried to squeeze it for me, but I guess it just wasn't ready. ~ It had been so long since I'd had one that I had forgotten that they have to pop on their own. ~

Guess I'll give the tea tree oil & loving healing energy. ~ I do this for others but it hadn't occurred to me to do it for myself. ~ Thank you all for writing about your own experiences.

I've got both the hard white pea-sized bumps which the gyn says are cysts and not to pop them and the red painful lumps which grow and are full of pus. I just recently got the white bumps and have no idea of what caused them. The red painful lumps seems to start with any irritation (such as wearing mini-pads or shaving down there). I try to put a hot washcloth on them when I have the chance and I also use Listerine on a q-tip (yes, it does burn) in the morning at at night. This seems to speed the healing along and sometimes they will just go away without even coming to a head.

I am overweight by about 50 lbs. Easily stressed and I have Hashimotos Hypothyroidism.

I have what sounds like the exact same thing... I freaked out and got tested for anything and everything and they all came back negative. Of course there is always HPV so I don't yet feel 100% happy. Anyway, everything you have all described sounds like what I have going on. So I'm hoping that's all it is - thanks everyone!

I have had cysts for a while now and 3 doctors don't know why. My first big one was on my left butt cheek. I felt an itching sensation on and off for a few weeks, then a pimple/whitehead. It went away only to return 6 months later. It itched again, then grew HUGE in a matter of days - to almost the size of 1/2 a golfball. My primary care physician popped it, didn't want to, and said that I should take care of it myself if I ever had one again.
One was about 1/2 way between my leg and the perineum (sp?) It appeared on a Friday afternoon, I couldn't find my obgyn (who had suggested Domeboro soaks which don't work) anywhere. Sunday night it was bigger than a golfball and I ended up in the emergency room because it hurt so much to walk, sit, etc.
One was on the inside of my leg, in the crease but on the 'elastic line' of panties. It grew so big fast. A surgeon removed it and wouldn't sew me back up. I have a huge dent in my leg. He thought it may be caused from staph, but wouldn't test it as I had 'self-medicated' with old antibiotics. DON'T DO THAT, by the way - it will mess up any testing that you may need done. He prescribed surgical scrub for me to wash with which you can buy it over the counter for about $12.
Now I have on in the fold of my labia. I'm perplexed as to why this keeps happening to me. I am a clean person!! I still use the surgical scrub a few times a week to prevent them (dr. says it will dry your skin to use everyday) I have had it for almost a year. It's a small bump like a pimple. It itches/hurts, I 'pop' it and it goes away...almost. 2 days ago it wasn't there at all. Yesterday it was the size of a pea. It won't pop. Experience tells me that the contents are no longer fluid, more like crisco, so that's probably why. It really hurts. Today it's even bigger. I can't afford to go to the doctor, especially not the surgeon again.

Does anyone have this problem where they have had a true diagnosis of STAPH? or a family history of cysts? (My mom had some cycst removed from earlobes.) If so, how are you handling it?

hi everyone, oh gosh, i cant believe im not the only one having this problem, i started having this small hard pimple like thing all around my labia minora (left and right) since i got married.

i am 25 right now, i tried to check it in the book but i cant seem to find an answer, i showed it to my husband because its becoming a concern, its not itchy, nor painful. its not bothering me at all, but sometimes when i wash my part i feel a lot of small round things around the labia majora, i cant see it (it looks like small yellowish eyes) until i spread it out between my fingers.
there are times it gets infected and swells up ,when it gets ripe i poked it and blood and pus goes out, its sore for a few days and after that it heals. but the other sebaceous cysts are still there. i have in the labia minora only, since both me and my husband are in the medical field, my husband said that it is sebaceous cysts that have accumulated. dont rub it because it will just be irritated.

i will go to my ob tomorrow to have it checked.
i noticed that the first one who made this post dated back as far as 2007, and its 2009 today. this is really something, thank you so much for sharing your concerns.

Hey everyone! This is the best forum I've found on this topic! I have been searching for information on and off for a LONG time. I've been having these SAME little flare ups since a year and a half or 2 years. I'm 26 years old, and have always had acne on my face. I've been seeing a Dermatologist because of that since I was 12. So, when this problem started to arise, she's the person I went to because I thought it must be something to do with acne. Anyways, she was for the most part just as confused as most of your Doctors sounded at first. I as well was tested for Herpes and it was negative like most of you on here. Hydragenitis superativa was also mentioned a couple of times. She told me to research that and check on the symptoms. But she wasn't sure if that's what I had because at the time there wasn't anything like a "boil" and she said they are a sign of it. So, another thing she gave me a while ago was an anti bacterial/antibiotic type ointment called FUCIDIN. I am to put it on when I flare up for 7 to 10 days. Sometime I can be forgetful and not kep up with that or not be able to find it. But, this week I had a bad flare up (hence the googling again) and I have been putting it on each night before bed and sometimes after my shower in the am. I'm not sure totally, but sometimes this stuff REALLY seems to speed up the disappearance of the stupid sore bumps. Anyways just though I'd mention it - worth a try. I've never gone to a gyno about it. I just thought since it was a skin problem I will get my skin doctor to investigate it. Thanks again. It was so nice to knwo there are others out there!! Good luck everyone!

Thanks so much for making me feel like I am not alone!! I have had swelling of my labia since I was 16-- I'm almost 21 now...

The first time I got it, they put it down to being a Bartholin's Cyst... fine, ok, so long as you can fix me... six months later, during my year 12 exams, BANG!! It hits me again, so they marsupialise it once more... since then, I have had five ops on it to no avail. The last gynae I saw said it was an "ingrown hair"... yeah frikken right... My last op was two weeks ago and guess what?... It's back again! Funny that!!

The thing that I find is that it comes near my menstrual cycle, usually just before. It starts near my anus, and then the soreness spreads up above my left side of my labia, where most of the swelling ends up being near my clitoris (correct me if I am wrong, but isn't a Bartholin's Cyst near the ENTRANCE to your vagina?.. **sighs** ). Most of the time I burst it myself with a lot of blood and pus coming out... been on meds and nothing helps... I'm just about to give up! And to top it all off, the gynae and GPs I've been seeing are refusing to contemplate the cause being hormonal... LMFAO

It's sad to know that us women are going through this, and no one has a cure for this... It's frustrating that there are so many women with identical symptoms but no professional can nail it down and give us our quality of life back.

Thanks heaps for giving me some time to vent to like minded women, who have the same thing I do... I look forward to hearing back from you all.

Louise!

I've been going thru the same thing! i just had one of these on top of my clitoral hood and it finally popped on monday after taking many hot epson salt baths and doing hot compresses. its slowly but surely going away.. BUT the top part of my vagina.. i guess it would be my clitoral hood.. still so swollen. and it has been since last tuesday night (3/3/09). does anyone else get swelling besides the actual cyst?
i've seen 3 OB's now and all say just to wait it out but its been over a week now, i'm just wondering if the swelling along with the cyst is normal. any helps appreciated.

God bless and I'm sending healing thoughts to all you wonderful ladies :-)

i'm so glad that i'm not the only one with this problem.
i'm 17, and i've had these recurring cysts off and on for about 5 or so times a year since i was 15.
i never saw anyone about it because i'm a virgin so i knew it couldn't be an STDand they seamed to go away within a week or so, i just let them grow for a day or two untill they're poppable then after a couple of more days, it's gone
but I was starting to worry that maybe this was like cancer or something or that maybe i wouldn't be able to have children in the future
i was really worried, but now i see that these "bumps" are pretty common

do you think it's necessary for me to talk to my pediatrician about this? lol
