Hi I have always had a high level of infections - urinary infections, cycstitus, thrush etc. In the last few years, I noticed that I have larger inner labia than what is considered.. normal. The hang down 3-4 inches below the outer labia. My gynaecologist has said that the labia inner are not out of normal ranges, but because my outer labia are skinny (i'm skinny!) they appear longer also. They might be holding in urine which is what could be causing all the infections. I am very clean, and wash twice a day so they aren't caused by a hygiene issue.

I feel that I want the operation to improve my quality of life, but feel guilty about it. I guess I think there are worse things than a few infections, and having to stop my gym classes, running and swimming to check I am not showing, even though it is very embarassing. HOWEVER my husband confided, he was a bit shocked by the appearance at first, and it is affecting our sex life since I experience discomfort and even difficulty having sex!

Would you recommend I have the surgery?

What incision is recommended?

Can I have this done under a local with sleeping tablet to minimise risk?

How can I keep the area clean?

Are there any health supplements I can take to help reduce infection and heal quickly?
Dear Busybee27: NO ONE can make you have an operation. The only person that has the power is yourself. It is true that when you are "skinny" things look bigger than usual. Same if you were obese - they would look smaller! I have NEVER heard of labia holding urine!!! They are longer pieces of skin, not cups!! 8-| You shouldn't feel guilty about trying to improve your quality of life. And sometimes those "few infections" could turn into MAJOR infections. You sound like your already a clean person, so just know that the down time for a Labioplasty is very little. I believe that in your case it would be done locally. Just think of it this way! If your top lip (on your face) was tiny and your bottom lip hung down past your chin, and an operation could fix that so they both looked totally normal! Would you have the operation? If the answer is yes! Then there you go! This is your body, your decision, and you should have piece of mind doing it. And tell you husband to look in your eyes!!!!! ;-) XD Good luck hun and I wish you a great outcome - which you will have!!!
