As far as excercise, this is something you have to ask your doctor when you go back for your postop. I don't know what your procedure entailed. I had mine done about 20 years ago, but nothing was removed so my down time was only for a few days.
Keep the area clean and dry and be sure to change your dressing a few times thru out the day. No lifting should be done and if you have little ones be sure to have a helping hand, you can't lift the baby's. After about 4 or 5 days you can get the area wet but don't put soap near the incisions. If you have butterfly sutures on the outside don't pick at them. She had dissolving sutures inside where they removed the appendix and butterflys on the outside. Eventually you will almost have to strain your eyes to see the scar in your navel.

You should have received post-operative instructions regarding physcial activity. Generally, excersize is NOT a good thing after ANY type of surgery. Laprascopic surgery is less invasive to the skin, tissue and muscles - but it's still just as invasive to your internals. Depending on what was done, your entire internal system is in a state of shock for at least a week following surgery, bowel movements are usually impossible for several days, internal bleeding can occur, infections and general discomfort.
I'm guessing that your doctor gave the instructions to rest up for XX of days and then slowly resume your routine. If not - get him/her to clarify this for you.
