I thank God I didn't break a bone, but when I fell so hard stepping off the pontoon, but missed the dock... well, no, my thigh hit the dock - really hard. Three weeks later, this huge, hard, very tender lump protrudes from my right thigh. The bruising color show is mostly over now, but I remain a bit tired from my body's need for healing.  Some of your stories are hard to read - I'm sorry you are dealing with your injuries. My P.A. said yesterday that it will take 'months' for my hematoma to clear up, as did those in the ER the day after the fall. SO, I have been searching, like you, for treatments to move forward with. I might as well become as knowledgeable as I can.

I'm sorry to hear about your fall and the resulting hematoma. It's understandable to want to be proactive and informed about treatments to aid in healing.

Here are some suggestions that may help with the healing process:

  1. Rest and elevate the affected leg: To reduce swelling and promote healing, it's important to rest and elevate the affected leg. Try to keep the leg elevated above the level of your heart whenever possible.

  2. Apply cold compresses: Applying a cold compress to the area can also help to reduce swelling and alleviate pain. You can use a bag of frozen peas or a cold gel pack wrapped in a towel for this purpose.

  3. Take pain relievers: Over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen can help to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation.

  4. Consider physical therapy: Once the initial swelling has subsided, physical therapy may help to improve mobility and speed up the healing process. Your healthcare provider can recommend exercises and stretches that can help to strengthen the affected area and improve flexibility.

  5. Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help to flush out toxins and promote healing.

It's important to follow your doctor's advice and attend any follow-up appointments to monitor the healing process. If you experience any symptoms such as fever, increased pain or swelling, or difficulty moving the affected leg, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

How are you now? Is everything ok?
