Young child has a mild weakness on her left side.  She stumbles alot-lack of balance.  foot drags, speech affected, premature by 2 months.

Tell me more about hemiparesis in a young 4 year.  What can be done to help?  She seems to lack a sensation on her left side of the body. She now can run, climb, but stumbles at times--loses her balance.  Potty training is not complete.  Willingness is there, cooperation is there, but she fails to tell anyone BEFORE  she needs to go.  Mother and father have been using a potty watch that plays a tune every hour to notify child she needs to go to the potty-then she willing goes the restroom but often will not need to go at that time.  Child was born 2 months premature....now is just 4.  Personality----very happy, active, sweet, calm, outgoing around family, shy around strangers...has overcome fears of climbing, accommodates and adjusts body to easily climb, jump, now runs, etc.

She has just been fitted for a foot brace, mother does stretches of her achilles tendon which has been stiff and a year ago child was dragging foot.

Question?  What over kinds of treatments, modifications, and encouragement do you suggest?
