I had surgery for gallbladder removal Aug 11, 2014. I am also now experiencing pain in my upper left thigh. The pain is so intense that it wakes me up at night. So i have been jumping up from sleep and rubbing on my upper left thigh. The pain leaves my thigh tender to touch. I was also prescribed Neurontin by my surgeon. I was afraid to take it after i read all the information. I have taken one pill so far no change on pain. I really need some relief i do not want this to cause futur problems from me being to fatigue to go to work.

I had kidney surgery two years ago and have the same numbness in my left thigh. The burning went away but it constantly itches!

Meralgia paratheca. I have it too. I'm now one month post-op single incision robotic laproscopic cholecystectomy and I still have the constant tingling numbness and pain (more of an annoyance) to my right anterior thigh where the caudery device was grounded. It hasn't gotten better...or worse.

This just happened to me today. I had laproscopic (sp) removal of my tubes & my right thigh all the way down to me knee is completely numb & itches but of course I can't scratch it. They told me it was the position I was in & should go away but it's not at all! She said if it doesn't go away she'll refer me to a neurologist. I'm really angry that such a routine procedure could go wrong like this! I couldn't live like this forever!!!

I had surgery 5 months ago and am having same problem in my right thigh. I noticed it right away when i had woke up On occasion it has a burning sensation and hurts at times. I see my primary doctor on the 17th and am going to ask about it again. I will comment on what she thinks. I've been to the chiropractic soctor already and that didn't help at all.

I just had surgery this morning at 11 a.m. I am having numbing, tingling feeling in my arms and legs and I can't sleep at all or get comfortable. I'm petrified this is not going to go away. Any suggestions what to do? I'm 38 years old and don't want to be like this forever!

It will go away. I had the same problem for about a month after having this surgery. I was afraid that something happened during surgery, maybe a nerve was damaged, and I spoke with the surgeon about it. He reassured me that this was a temporary issue that would resolve. Well it did resolve. But like you it would affect my sleep, the numbness and tingling was almost too much to bear at times. Give yourself a few weeks and it will stop.

I had open gallbladder removal 2.5 weeks ago. They started out trying keyhole but had to do open surgery. Ever since surgery I have had total numbness on my outer left thigh, from just above my knee to just below my hip. And some numbness that seems to have gone on my right thigh. I saw my family doctor today but because I am experiencing issues relating to pain and nausea (which are really pressing matters for me), I stupidly forgot to mention the numbness. However I have an appointment with my surgeon in 2 weeks. As my numbness is not painful and just more of a annoyance I am going to wait until then to bring it up.
After reading your stories I am worried it will get worse but I am lucky that mine is not painful. Fingers crossed that this will go away.

I know this post is over a year but I need to ask did this went away or u still feel the same? I had my gallbladder removed almost 2 months ago and am experiencing the same thing. Doctor said it didn't have anything to do with surgery is from laying in bed too long or the position I was on. Is uncomfortable and don't know what to do.
