I just had my follow-up with my surgeon, who did a laparoscopic hernia repair on me 9 days ago. I told him about having pain in the skin of my thigh. He said that when they're doing robotic surgery, they put a roughly hand-sized electrical grounding pad/patch on you, generally on the thigh. He said I may just be having a reaction to the adhesive and advised me to apply a cortisone creme. Another possibility I have considered is that the pad may have forcibly taken some hair with it when it was removed.

I had an excisional biopsy on my right breast on 28 Jun 2017. I had twilight anesthesia. Starting on the 29 June 2017, my left leg all of a sudden started going numb. This is happening several times during the day and stays numb up to 5 minutes. I know the nurse put something around my ankles for support instead of a pillow. Any suggestions?

Well, it's been two months post-op now, and the grounding pad was a red herring. The skin on top of my thigh still feels like it's sunburned all the time. I have talked with other people who have had similar issues, including a woman who had a C-section and wound up with skin pain on her leg for nearly a year. Could it be some kind of compression-related nerve injury during the procedure?

It is called meralgia paresthetica ... I still have it - physiotherapist said it was caused from the tourniquet used on my leg during my foot surgery. Sometimes goes away on its own .... but if it doesn't, may need medication to calm the nerves down ... there's nothing you can do to help it along. See the Mayo Clinic website under "diseases and conditions" and read up - very informative.

I talked to my regular doctor and asked him this and he said the numbing of my upper/outer left thigh was due to the strap or mechanism they used in surgery to hold my body in place while they did the surgery. He thought the numbness would go away with a week or so. I had my gallbladder removed one week ago today and I think the numbing has reduced to about 50% of what it originally was.

I just had a kidney transplant 9/11 Nov will be 2 months. I also have a numb right thigh. Which is very sore and burns. Feels like a bee stinging me at times. My Dr told me it was their fault. But they don't seem bothered about it. I'm the one that has to put up with it everyday. Not fun at all. Very aggrevating. They told me should go away in a few months, or may not.

I had my gallbladder out 6 days ago and my right thigh went dead for 2 days, tried sleeping on my side which made it gradually go away. I've also had pins and needles and burning pain. Then today felt like I'd been stung by a bee just above my right knee! I thought it was from sleeping on my back but not so sure after reading these posts. I hope you are not suffering so much now?

thank you. I just had laparoscopic cholecystectomy last wednesday (8 November 2017) and have had tingling in my right groin area since a few hours after surgery. It was a few times a day then but since Sunday its every 5 minutes to a half hour. I just called the hospital and the surgeon is supposed to call me back in a few hours. The strange tingling sensation is on my right side in the groin, thigh just to knee cap & up to my right abdomen now. I'm getting scared that it might be a blood clot, pinched nerve or something went wrong with the stapling of the cystic artery before my gallbladder was removed.

Hello CFMOOPSIE100828

I just read your comments and I am experiencing the same with my left thigh, how are you now? Hoping you have fully recovered.
I had a groin hernia repair op two weeks ago and my leg is exactly as you describe. The sheet, rubber band snapping, wanting to rip your clothes off as it kills your hip& thigh, I am only comfy laying in bed. I feel like I need a carer!

Please help!
Thanks!
Lisa

I just had my gallbladder removed as well. My upper left side of my thigh is completely numb. It's been this way since the surgery. It's not painful, just numb with zero feeling. Not sure what to do.

Don’t know but I just had a hysterectomy 9 days ago and my left leg is getting number as the days go by. Plus I’ve developed a headache and heart palpitations and dizziness. What the heck is going on ??? The doctors say this has nothing to with the surgery but I don’t believe this. Are doctors becoming the least trustworthy profession
