hey there, doc.
my girlfriend, age 18, has been diagnosed with both cystic fibrosis and diabetes (cf at four months old and diabetes at 14 years old). i think it's type I diabetes, as she is very skinny and it wasn't onset by a terrible diet or lack of physical activity. she essentially lives a normal teenage life; she goes to college, parties sometimes (involves drinking and some drug use, nothing heavy, mostly marijuana), and whatnot. she is also a smoker, but not a heavy smoker. a pack of twenty cigarettes generally lasts a five days or so. she does her treatments somewhat regularly, but i know that she sometimes doesn't due to her busy college life and probably just the sadness of knowing that she has these diseases. i also know that she has some sort of mild psychological disorder, maybe bipolar or anxiety or something to that effect.
given all of this information, what would you estimate to be her life expectancy. please be as specific as possible - i included all of that information for a reason. also, does it make any difference that she is a girl? i know that in general, women live longer than men. i'm not looking for reassurance, though, i'm looking for the harshest, most honest truth i can get.
thank you.
