Vicodin is an opioid analgesic. At high strengths and long duration, it can produce very life-altering effects when trying to quit taking it. It is best, (if possible), to wean off of it. To help yourself get over the withdrawal Sx, taking benedryl (diphenhydramine) can help enormously. It will make you very sleepy (or some people it can have a rare adverse effect and give them energy) but it stops the action of the vicodin in your system for about 6 to 8 hours - helping you get through the headaches, body aches and overall feeling of anxiety and nervousness. Opiate withdrawal is a condition that requires pharmacological assistance most of the time and should be taken very seriously. If you have ever had any kind of serious withdrawal issues with this or other scheduled drugs, you're body has built up tolerance and means the next time you most likely must take more to have a therapeutic effect. These drugs are nothing to mess around with and require responsible usage. The more you communicate with your doctor about how you are being effected, the more they will trust you. Everyone has the right to pain management, so let's be sure it is our pain that we are managing with these drugs and not our life. You all deserve the best life has to offer.
God Bless

Lortabs are insidious, but they aren't as bad as oxy withdrawals that last weeks. People are different obviously, but most start
feeling a lot better after 4 days of cold turkey withdrawal. I did the CT route and glad I did. The best way to describe it was like
this

12-24 hours after stopping- hay fever like symptoms, watery eyes, running nose, and energy level dropping.

24-48- this was the worst. In addition to the above, diarreah, hot and cold flashes, zero energy and depression.
The only medicine I took was immodium AD. It helped greatly with the runs, and it doesn't slow down your recovery
time. Also exercise if you can,it might be just a short walk, but exercise makes the body produce natural endorphins
that make you feel better.

48-60- still feeling bad,but moments of feeling good start coming. The worst of the physical symptoms begin to subside.

60-72 hours- The physical withdrawals are almost gone. You start feeling a lot better, but this is when the mental craving
comes in. your body will say it'll be fine just to take one. This is where you have to be strong and say no.

72- 96 hours- You begin to feel like your old self again. The moments of feeling good are much longer now. The physical
symptoms are gone, but the mental battle begins. Some may need a 12 step program like NA for a support system.

The first thing I did was delete my connections out of my phone. If you happen to run into them, tell them yo've quit. Most
will understand and wish you well. They are fighting the battle also.

Hello I'm new here and im glad I found all of you guys. Ive been addicted to lortabs for about 2 years and I must say yes they will and DO run your life im on day 2 of going cold turkey and mind you I was taking 10 - 12 a day I would take one every hour or so and I had to just let go. I'm 22 years old going to be 23 this January 23rd I'm a father to 2 wonderful girls and I have a great girlfriend. But enuff of me rambling I'm going to tell you guys how I quit cold turkey before and I'm doing it again.. and NO I'm not going back!!

Things you can do to help with the withdraws the worst days are the first 1-3 days I'd have to say.
and here are a few things I use to help cope!

-I take 2 Ibprofen every 4-6 hours as needed for any pain and I find it helps mentally with the craving of just taking a pill..

-I use Nightquill for helping me go to sleep through the first 2 nights or the 3rd night if needed.

-Take HOT showers (But berable) one in the morning and one @ night!

-Snack on Crunchy healthy food (I eat sunchips there kinda healthy right! XD)

-I know you might not have enuff energy on the first day but its best to walk out side, heck go visit some family members if they ask you can tell them if you wish or if you wish to keep it to your self just let them know your not feeling so well.

-Kick your daily routens you did when you where using loratab (Me it was sitting on my PC playing games) go out side do somthing! Doing what you normally did when you where using the pills only makes me feel worse!

-For the Runs I use Peptolbysmole.

*Here's some side effects that happind to me that I forgot to include..

-Cold chills, Sweating, Diarrhea, Anxiety, Restless, Head aces. ect

anyways I hope some of this helps you guys as It did me before and it is now! Now I'm going to pray for you all as well as my self and I can only hope god will answer.

:-) Well I was prescribed Norco about six months ago. Norco like Lortab but it doesn't contain as much tylonal. Anyways my pain was so great that I started to take it more and more until it got to where I was taking about 20 pills a day. I know that this is very dangerous and I could of overdosed very easily. I had to quit cold turkey. The withdrawls were horrable. I got diarrea, chills, headaches, not sleeping, anxiety, nausea and vomiting, and my body ached all over. This went on for about 7 days and after the 7 days the symptoms were still there just not as bad. Finally after about 2 weeks it stoppped. I tell you this was one of the hardest things I have ever went through in my life. I think I would chose to give birth again for about 3 days instead of going throught the withdrawls. My advice for everyone who is taking Lortab or anything similar would be to take as prescribed by the doctor. And if your not in pain don't take.

I am on day 2 of my loratab/tylox detox. I have valid pain issues, however I have learned that if I don't detox myself the doctors will not What I have found effective for me is to get on an noninflammatory, ex. (Mobic) (prescription medication you can get from your physician) for about 2 weeks prior to detox, 1 week prior I get a shot of toradol (from my physician) I also have a prescription for medication for (restless leg syndrome) I also increase my Chiropractor appointments for several weeks prior to get me ready. I plan ahead for 2 weeks, laundry, meals, so that I can just lie around if need be. For those of you who are not getting your pain medications from your doctor, you need to be honest with your doctor and ask them if any of these medications will be ok for you. Believe it or not, doctor's would rather help you with a few non narcotic prescriptions to help you kick your habit than for you to ask them for these drugs. There are so many people out there who do not have to take these drugs to survive, count yourself lucky, hope you will not be 51 years old and have no hope of ever getting out of pain. I'm not trying to judge anyone, I just wished I were that blessed. :-) Addiction is addiction, weather physically or mentally. My body gets addicted, even though my mind does not seem to. So make your mind strong. Study addiction on the internet, get the tools that work for you. Last year I withdrew off methadone, the ultimate pain reliever. I hurt when I was taking it and knew I had to do something. Now I will not go that far again, I detox 1 time a year. Believe me when I say that loratabs and tylox are nothing compared to that. I detoxed at home, cold turkey, but again I had other medications from my doctor. Prescription nausea medication helps also, natural sleep aides if you can take them. I can't take most of them even though I take a lot of natural products. DMSO also helps with the body aches, check your local health food stores. Well, that's about all I can think of. Good luck to you all and I hope this has helped. Oh, by the way, walking if you are able is great, it's one of those mind things though, you have to be prepared and make up your mind to do it even if you dont feel good, because guess what? You are not going to feel good for weeks, but in the long run you will feel so much better...............

I barely have any energy at the moment to type this but I feel like I need to. For others and for my own sake. Like everyone else, I'm totally addicted to Loritab. I was taking five 7.5mg's a day and, truthfully, I could have easily taken more because I loved the high. I have a legit pain issue in my upper back but I'm only prescribed two a day and, funny enough, the more I took to combat the pain, the more intense the pain got. So, I cut down to two a day, then one, and now today is the first day that I've not taken any at all. I wish I could be proud of myself but I am in such a 'blah' (no other way to desrcribe it) mood that I can't be. I've quit once before but only for a month so I know a little about the withdrawals and there's nothing good about them, as you've read so far. I haven't seen anyone mention yawning. I cannot stop yawning, at all when I quit. I have the other symptoms as well - upset stomach, chills, EXTREME anxiety and depression, body pain (especially in my legs), absolutely NO motivation what-so-ever, dizziness, and tiredness. My legs have been bothering me the most, so far. It's like they're restless, cramped, and on fire. They, along with the rest of my skin, are burning from the inside. Kind of like a sunburn but more internally. And, I've also completely f-ed up my sleeping schedule because I'm sleeping all through the day now. I find myself unable to sleep at night until literally 6AM (even after taking sleeping meds to help), waking up at 11:00AM because of my legs, then sleeping from about noon-8PM. It's not only oversleeping but it's ridiculously off-schedule. Luckily, I don't have to work this week and for anyone thinking of quitting, I would recommend taking some time off. At this point I am just so incredibly restless and I want to sleep for the next seven days! I hope everyone who has been posting on here was able to quit these evil, disgusting pills for good. I've not read many replies or success stories but I am going to make an effort to update everyone on my progress. Even though I feel like hell, I am not going to let this addiction win this time. I've slipped up once and I'm not going to let it happen again! Stay strong readers!

I too am having lortab withdrawal; I had a rotator cuff injury approximately 6 months ago and surgery approximately 4 months ago. The tear in the muscle was very big and the pain was excruciating. I got into the habit of taking the lortab. The other night my shoulder wasn't hurting so I decided that it was time to cut the umbilical cord and stop taking the lortab-resting heart rate of 110, I couldn't get comfortable in bed, on the couch, in the recliner, anywhere. Also, irritable, restless, insomnia, tremors, and a feeling inside my body like I'm going 100mph. This is day 3. I realize that with time, hopefully 7 to 14 days, my body will work through the fact that I'm not taking the lortab anymore. I cannot believe how addictive this drug is. I don't drink alcohol, I have never had any problems like this before, ever. I understand that I could not have made it this far without the meds, I just wish that I had known sooner what was involved in stopping the med. Good luck if you have made it this far.

I take 16 to 20 lortab10's a day. First for pain and now for funtionabillity. Withdraws are the wrost. Almost to the point that I can't get out of bed any more unless I have at least 4 to put in my mouth. My bro, came across some meds, called " I might miss spell this, but" SUBOXTIN, Break one in half and it's like you never took a lortab ever; it's really a magic pill. The only bad thing is to get it legality you have to tell your Dr. Why you need it and he’ll probably but your name in the system as addict. And if you ever go to the hospital or see a doctor you will only be able to get non narcotic pain pills
