When I was pregnant, I used to feel these flutters/spasms, which were different from the baby kicking. It turned out to be gas moving around, even though it didn't necessarily expel itself afterward. The reason I was noticing it more then, according to the doctor, was because my stomach had become more prominent. Beforehand, my stomach was further back, due to a retro (tilted) uterus. It's possible that what you, and some of your repliers here have been experiencing is just gas movement that is in the front of your lower abdomen. Gas can and does move throughout your torso, and can appear anywhere. Maybe it's just moving through closer to the surface, so you can actually feel it. The only other thing I can think of are muscle spasms. If you recently put more strain on your abdominal muscles than usual, just like any other muscle in your body, it can spasm. I'm no doctor, and certainly don't claim to be, so get checked out by a medical professional if it continues.

Most likely an inguinal hernia. I experienced this for over 6 months until it increased to a more discomforting pressure sensation, at which point I went to the ER and was diagnosed immediately, confirmed afterword by ultrasound imaging.

I'm a 28 year old male who used to drink nothing but soda until a few days ago when I changed my diet and started drinking water instead. Ever since consuming more water I've noticed that I urinated alot, and I came to the conclusion it was because my bladder wasn't accustomed to my new habit of drinking more liquids in one day. About 10-14 cups of water a day.
But then as I was lying in bed, I would get these flutter movements in my lower right abdominal, and just like other people said, that the movement isn't painful but rather disturbing. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.

I also am experiencing the "cell phone vibrating" phenomenon!! It is driving me nuts! So glad I googled it and found others experiencing this very weird feeling. Strange NO doctor answer! I am female, 54 years old, and it started 2 days ago and is still going on randomly. It's so quick too. I keep trying to get my hand there to check if I can feel it and then its over. Tho I can feel it against a counter. The first time I felt it I was at work and I thought my cell was vibrating! I thought no its in the other pocket and not even close to the area. Completely different side. It's in my lower left abdomen and very low. Wakes me up at night too! It's really freaking me out!!! I also feel like I swallowed a vibrating microchip. This is nuts.

I am a 52 year old male and just started having these same "fluttering" sensations tonight. Mine occur in my lower right abdomen and I would descibe it, being a cat owner, as the sensation of a cat purring heavily while lying on my lap. There is a purr feeling, then a pause and then the purr feeling again. This continues for several minutes, then stops for a short period, then occurs again for a few minutes. I have never had IBS and don't keep my cell phone in my pocket, so those are not applicable to my situation.

I too have these fluttering feelings. My wife is pregnant and she gets them too. Was reading somewhere that sometimes men take on the symptoms of pregnancy... A phenomenon known as "sympathy symptoms". Was just wondering, how many of you have partners that are pregnant?
