I'm an 18 year old male with the same lower left abdomen fluttering. I feel it may be stress related caused by college and a recent, quite scary oncoming of depression that I never experienced as a child.

I don't have any answers for you, but just wanted to say that for me, after about 2 months, the fluttering stopped about as abruptly as it started. No explanation, no other side effects. Unconfirmed by doctors, but it does seem stress plays a part in this weird ailment. That's all I got for you- sorry it's not much help. Just try to relax and focus on the good and positive things in your life, and not the negative things that create the stress. You're in a temporary situation, and it WILL get better!!

I am a 19 year old female experiencing the same symptoms.

The spasms or "Fluttering" occur below my belly button, not on a particular side, but all over. They don't hurt, but are rather annoying. I know I am not pregnant and would like to know what's causing this.

I just started getting this today and I'm pretty sure it's from a muscle strain or from standing when you're not used to it for long periods of time. You should just do forward lunges and stretch out the muscle that reaches from right above your hip to your middle quads. Stretch every morning and maybe even do a back bend if you can. The twitching has to be muscle related because it just started happening to me maybe twenty minutes ago and the only thing I can think of is what I've been doing recently which is way different for my body and that's cosmetology school and I stand all day! Never did that for months and now I am. Just think about what your days have been like and think accordingly from that. :) Hope this helps someone!

I have had this now on and off for about 3 weeks. It started one day at work sitting at my desk. I felt this weird bubbling under my belly button (not on one side) and I thought now that was weird!! It did it two or three more times and went away.. a few days later it happened again... then went away for 2 weeks.. today it started this morning and is still happening 6 hours later. As with others there is no pain, just strange uncomfortable alien bubbles. I am a 29 year old male and am under quite a bit of stress lately.. I have also changed my diet to have a lot more bran and grain.. had some other pain in my appendix area but a trip to the ER and a CT scan with blood work showed no problems there. (3 weeks ago).. I have an appointment with my doctor on Wednesday and will see what he has to say.

Other research I have done on various sites shows this as a symptom of IBS (I believe I may have IBS for several years now)

I have it too off and on from 3mnthz now.
Docter said its an infection after ultra sound.
But the medications she gave did not work much.
IBS can be a reason.
Could it be related to sex?
Because in those days i ws not having sex or masterbating and had a boner for sure when i felt it first.
And i ws also in stress as i ws givng papers.

I've had the same thing off and on for a month now. It really does feel like baby kicks. I spoke to my Dr and he recommended drinking more water especially at night and sleeping with a pillow between my legs. This hasn't stopped the spasms, but they aren't waking me at night any more. He thinks it might be nerve related (pillow to relieve back/hip pressure since im a side sleeper) or maybe lower intestinal (water, though he admitted he tells everyone who comes in to drink more water). He also recommended doing a food diary and logging when I felt the flutters and what I was doing (sitting position, just finished working out, etc). I see him in a few weeks with my log to see if there's a pattern.

Just thought I would come on here and do a follow-up since almost nobody seems too.. The rumbles took about 5 weeks to go away and have stopped completely for me. I went to a few doctors who both told me it was gas and possibly related to IBS or the fact that they thought I had a viral infection causing it.. In the end.. it felt really strange for several weeks and caused me a lot of anxiety but turned out to be nothing. It should be noted I had changed my diet and ate a lot of bran flakes and bran.. that caused a lot of extra gas that was making the rumbling worse.

I've been having it all day.  I don't do many ab excersizes and last night I did.  I pushed myself.  I thought maybe that could be the reason but I've never heard of it happening and it seems too intense to be caused from that.

I have been having some sinus problems lately and I also feel like I could have a cold. Also I have been depressed but I think it's because my immune system is working hard to fight off this sickness.  I have anxiety issues as well, and trouble sleeping..which Im sure this wont help.

I'd say it feels like a baby kicking except if I was pregnant and my baby kicked like this I'd think it was having seizures or something.

I'm hoping it will be gone tomorrow.

I'm a 25yo Female. I definitely think its muscle related. This is been happening to me since last night and all throughout today. I have just started an intense exercise regime and that involved some crunches yesterday which was a struggle. So I can only assume that is why its happening to me. I suppose it may be the same for people who have long standing jobs, or men with jobs that involve picking up and moving large items as I'm sure that can strain the abdomen muscles. These are the same muscles that twitch for me if someone tickles me right down the very bottom of my stomach as well.
